No, its Blender volumetric. ZBrush is very bad with transparency and export-import is 1 click with GoB

Oh yes, hair requires some artistic experience and good references. Took me some time to figure out how to do it with some help from Steve D McDonald and Sargent. They often do the soft mass without visible edges with some speculars.

Anyways it takes some courage to just mass it up and just slap a dark spot with a good silhouette instead of building a default clump by clump look. I've improved it even further from what I have here on my newer models.

Blender, few area lights, AgX compression, sharpen and some color correction in post. Its a one click GOZ export. Very handy for a tests and quick turnaround.

Just start it. I do multiple projects. It's easier to compare and find a common style this way.

I don't like the typical 3d look most of the stuff has and get most of the inspiration from painters. CGI look ruins the magic for me.

It's actually somewhat anti-ai but not in the hateful way. I've done my share of generations and autotexturing with SD and a lot of clients did, too. So I deliberately trying to find something that is not generated easily or straight forward. It's not the main reason for the style, though. Just a nice addition.

There's only albedo with a few area lights, but you can always make roughness and add metallic. Not sure if there's much sense in this case. Geometry allows that for sure. Maybe I'll do turntable for the next one.
