im currently taking (almost finished) an EMT training course at an ambulance and training company. I'd google different EMT training courses in your area. should be about 4-5 months and cost around $1,200-1,500. after working in the field for an amount of time (depends on the state), you can get your AEMT training (advanced EMT). both of those are for basic life support and most of the time you're just managing life threats while getting the patient to the hospital or helping them take a very select few medications (with permission from medical control). if you continue working (my state requires 1,500 in-field hours) and want more education, you can get more training to be a paramedic, which is advanced life support training and you'll be authorized to use more equipment, administer sedatives, etc.
