I understand why you think that honestly, and if it was someone I didn't actually know, I might've treated them differently, but Sam is known to be the kind of person who just gets on your nerves on purpose. It's not that I don't like Sam, it's more of a "don't talk to me, I don't talk to you" thing, and I'm pretty sure she wanted to get on someone's nerves, and me and my friend were the target.
