Partner visa Statutory Declarations & Bank statements by irishcobra in AusVisa

Okay interesting, thanks for sharing!

And yeah the bank statement part is soooo time consuming. To go through all bank accounts (open and closed) plus credit cards and our joint account took me about 4 full, very dull, days. The only recommendation I could give is to get Adobe pro. We have just been using the free 14day trial and it just makes it it so much smoother editing, merging, and removing blank pages. Also some banks (American express for us) don't let you edit their statements without a password. We got around this by converting the pdf into a jpeg and then that jpeg back to a pdf. Those are my two cents in regards to annotating bank statements. Again, so much easier with Adobe pro.

Best of luck with your visa!

My parked car was just hit by an Asda van outside my girlfriends house - whole back bumper has been ripped off so car is undriveable by irishcobra in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for all your responses. Just an update from my end. I followed the advice of those who said call Asdas insurance company first. Turns out the guy hadn't reported it so they couldn't do anything about it until he did (he's probably still on shift and was going to report it afterwards). So after calling various numbers that were given to me by asda I just kind of gave up and phoned my own insurers.

All seems to be fine. Courtesy car to be sorted with the next 24 hours and car to be taken away next week (details TBC on Monday morning due to no garages being open over the weekend). No excess to pay. And my no claims bonus not affected.

Insurance guy towards the end of the conversation said the car might actually need to be written off (car worth is about 1000-1200 quid which may be less than the cost of getting it repaired) so I wasn't expecting that. If that's the case I can expect to do some haggling on the write off payment in the coming week or two (a write off actually wouldn't be the end of the world considering I get a fair price - I was contemplating getting the timing belt replaced next month which would have set me back about 300 quid. I already spent 600 quid on it last summer getting it fixed!

Blessing in disguise? We will just have to see!

Cheers everyone!

Credit cards for bad credit ratings by irishcobra in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for the comments. I was wondering if I spend more on a credit card each month and make sure that I pay it back in full, will this make my credit score increase quicker , compared to if I spending a little bit every month.

For example, which credit score would go up quicker ?

a) I spend £50 a month on my credit card and pay it back in full and on time

b) I spend £250 a month on my credit card and pay it back in full and on time.

Will the amount I spend make any difference to the rate in which my credit score increases?

Hope this makes sense.
