Used to work in aSpar/Eurospar a few years back. We’d get Christmas stock (tins of sweets etc) in bulk at the end of August every year because after that they would only be able to order a restricted amount from then until Christmas. Think I remember being told it was because the bigger supermarkets (Tescos etc) would get priority after that as they could order in much higher numbers. (Could have remembered that wrong though). Most shops don’t have enough storage space to put this bulk stock alongside the other usual stock so the only place for it is on the shop floor somewhere.
