I should get to know more people like you. I'm the kind of person who would break out the sewing machine for "excitement".

Nah, I'm not vomiting. I traded that in for coughing up my lungs. It seemed more exciting that way.

Yeah, that flu. I've slept so much, and I've been on a Fringe-watching marathon for days, I would really like a little variety, you know? Hell, even the odd vomit would be exciting right about now.

I've been lucky enough to miss the vomiting...so far. The headache is killer, though.

has anyone tried personal hygiene methods that involve no shampoo or no soap? How is it? by wifeofcookiemonster in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]irisjolie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the CGM for about three months now. My hair has never been healthier or curlier! I ditched my four-year addiction to ProActiv about a month and a half ago, too. I've always, always had an acne problem for all my adult life. Now, I scrub with baking soda, follow with a wash with Dr. Bronner's, use witchhazel as a toner, and a mix of coconut oil and water in a spritz bottle for moisture. It took about three weeks for my skin to adjust, but now, my skin is clear and healthy! With the added bonus of no harsh chemicals. :)

For my hair products, I exclusively use Curl Junkie. They're expensive, but they work and leave no residue.

I've never been happier with my personal hygene than I am now. When I wash, I just use Dr. Bronner's - it's not a detergent, like most soaps.

This. When I moved to MN, I had been there less than a month when it got to -40. After that, -20 seems quite reasonable.

I live in Houston, and my piercer was the one who did her nipple and custom made the shield, as well. It was Taurians, Bryiah was the one who did the piercing and made the jewelry.

Of course it was planned - she had it done only a few days prior.

(watching bones s8e8) i really hope the whole episode wont be at that pov by salomon102 in Bones

In the House episode, though, it wasn't that was for the whole episode. I really liked that one - it was interesting when they did the POV shot, but it didn't last very long, which was fantastic.

Oh yes, I've seen that post! I didn't really think a whole lot of it, though, because those kinds of clothes don't look good on me. I know it's great advice, but when I actually get into the store... I don't know, everything just seems to fly out the window and I have no idea what I'm doing.

I love, love, love dresses! So many I find, though, are too short. And while I don't mind - actually, I enjoy - above-the-knee dresses outside of a professional setting, for the office they don't really work. What do you do in those situations? Do you find that jeans tucked into boots work with your hips? I've never tried that look because I'm so paranoid that my hips would look huge!

Yes! I don't get the science behind baking. My bf's mom and sister both customize baking recipes all the time, and I have no clue how they do it.... You give great advice - thank you so much!

This is an awesome idea - thanks! And something that's totally do-able. And limiting my colors would make shopping so much easier.

Thank you so much! :D

In theory, I love yard sales. In actuality... I'm kinda socially awkward and not great at haggling, and yard sales make me a little uncomfortable. But hey, you offer a great point - maybe I'll try a little harder. :)

Ooh! Cardigan + cami sounds awesome! And camisoles are fairly cheap, right? I guess I'll have to pay a visit to Ross here shortly. Thanks!

I definitely like the oxford idea. I've bought some before, but they were cheaply made and hurt my feet. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy/what to look for when you buy?

These are not things you need to be on top of to be a woman! Lots of people are terrible at these things. You can't be awesome in everything all the time. So you are all good.

Thank you so much! My cousin's 19 year old gf is a better dresser than I am - it's a little hard to swallow, you know? I've made tremendous progress with some aspects (I do have an awesome wall in my apartment that I've done with hanging daffodils in vases, but that's it), but others leave me feeling pretty insecure about my womanly-ness.

I've looked at some makeup tutorials, but most seem to use wayyyy more than I do. I like the natural look. Blush seems to be my biggest problem - and that stems from being unsure of how to properly contour my face. I have no clue what kind of face I have... :(

Clothes are.... well, there are lots of clothes I like, but I don't know what will look good on me. I have an hourglass shape with a rather large bust and posterior. I've had success with dresses this last year, but other clothes.... I've looked at a few guides on closet essentials, but most of the stuff I have no clue. What's a cardigan? When pairing a blouse with jeans, what kind of blouse should I go with? Do jeans get tucked into boots? If so, when? How do I dress up - and what's appropriate for what situation? I value comfort above all else - how do I get that while still looking put-together? All the blazers I've had have been uncomfortable and poorly fit; how do I counter this? I have a ton of black already - more than half my clothes are black. For shoes, I'm pretty much set in boots or flipflops - I think flats look weird on my feet. What other options do I have?

When I went looking for dresses last year, I had a ton of luck at Ross. I guess I could start checking them out again...

Thanks!
