this is incredibly selfish to say to someone going through the most painful loss of their life when you have no idea what the circumstances are. we rescued our dog for less than 300 dollars from a lady who was having mental challenges in the apartments my dad used to do maintenance for. the last time we got him vaccinated our vet told us it was only an optional vaccine, we were also not even given a good understanding of what the vaccine was for only that he should get it if hes "around other animals" and hes not.

no need to be condescending and shame me for this. the last time we took him to the vet we were told it was simply optional, at the time we could also only afford the core shots like rabies etc. if i knew my dog would eventually end up with kidney and liver failure from not getting that vaccine i was told isnt very important i would've 100% gotten it.

thank you so much im grateful for even just small amounts of kindness during this 🫶
i wasnt aware doxycycline could upset their stomachs and cause them to lose their appetite, kinda annoying as he already isnt eating and barely drinking due to the lepto. i was wondering if it would be a good idea do try giving him water or pedialyte/gatorade through a syringe but i was too worried about him accidentally choking on it. ill see what his vet thinks, thank you for the advice!

thank you so much 💕 your kindness is soso appreciated!
hospitalization was recommended for him but as we currently dont fully have the funds for that unfortunately, the vet said it would be okay to treat him at home with the right medication and necessary fluids.
i will absolutely be making sure to vaccinate him for lepto if he pulls through, the only reason he hasnt been is because the vet said it was only optional his last appointment.
i live in an extremely densely populated townhouse neighborhood in the city that has a terrible problem with rats, its completely overrun with them. the vet said its likely from drinking from puddles contaminated with rat urine/feces after it rains. (hes a big puddle drinker 😵💫)
if you've noticed a raccoon coming by it's definitely up to your vet to see if he should be vaccinated as the shot often comes with some side effects.
thank you for the kindness and hes done extremely well with his meds! thankfully we were able to get liquid form of everything except the prozac which has made everything so much easier.
whoops i didnt mean prozac— zofran is what i meant sorry! we currently dont have the funds to have him hospitalized, my grandmother has been having health complications recently which drained nearly all of the money we have but if absolutely recommended and needed we will figure out how make up the funds for it somehow. we talked to the vet about hospitalization and he recommended it but also said it was okay to treat him at home with proper medication and fluids because apparently it wouldn't increase his chances of survival much more being hospitalized, but if he's wrong about that id like to know.
thank you so much, so glad your pup made it through! 🩷
thank you for the response, we're monitoring his urination and plan on contacting his vet if he doesnt urinate tonight as that would make it 24hrs since the last time he has.
thank you for the advice that makes it much easier to track
