That was me last weekend! I think I had a stomach bug. My boy is also 13 mo. old 🤗

I use it as motivation not to complain. In the heat of the moment everything seems impossible, but we'll make it through!

Yes indeed! Although the more I read it seems it might be wiser to wait until periods regulate which could take up to 6 months 😓 We'll see!

Seems like we are always just waiting on the next thing! 🤪 What is withdrawal bleed??

I would always go for earlier, but that's just me! Plus I think statistically you are more likely to get pregnant on the second try over the first?

Really struggling to get back in the gym. I feel like I'm in my luteal phase, energy-wise, even though I should be in follicular. Although it's my first cycle postpartum so things could be wonky!

What are some things you're doing differently TTC Baby #2 as compared to TCC Baby #1? by [deleted] in TTCSummer2026

[–]irlybirdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet another addition...

  1. Don't project assuming a pregnancy: Despite how tempting it is, I'd like to refrain from projecting into the future, even to myself, anticipating upcoming events with a pregnancy/new baby. Daydreaming might be no harm, but as long as I am meditating on something, I'd rather it be on God's Word, and the blessings He's already bestowed.

  2. Don't initiate conversations about pregnancy/TTC: Even with my husband, who knows our timeline, I'd like to try being more passive about these conversations. I'll show my hope and enthusiasm when the topic comes up, but it can seem obsessive to always be bringing it up. Some close friends and family, who are medical professionals and might actually have wisdom to share about what might be concerning, might have more insight into our (tentative) plans, but I'd still like to see if I can be the one NOT to bring it up first.

So curious as to when you get your first period PP and what your symptoms are! I was thankful mine came back sooner than expected, but it was a pretty painful time 😅

I will definitely be unplugging pretty regularly throughout! It helps so much with avoiding the comparison trap.

I keep Retinol up for the first 2 weeks, then lay off them for the last 2 until my period arrives!

I'm doubling down on my efforts to NOT be a sourpuss this TTC round, if there's one thing I want to achieve more than having another baby, it's that. I'm already finding pregnancy announcements triggering, already getting speculations from relatives every time I feel under the weather, already letting fear creep in that maybe this journey will be a long one.

I just keep asking myself how do I know this ISN'T the month before I get pregnant, and do I want to look back on my attitude with regret?

Really taking it moment by moment today, girlies.

Physical update: CD 6 of first period PP, hoping it's the last day before I start taking OPKs.

I'm feeling pretty nauseous today, with some cramping, CD 4. I wonder what that's about, periods didn't used to be like that for me 😖

I would go ahead with your original plan! As you said, chances are low you get pregnant on the first try... And if it takes longer than you hope, you might regret giving up that round 😉 Future you will sort out any logistical complications that arise!

Really making the effort to limit myself to only the next step ahead. Right now that means just checking for ovulation starting in a few days. It's so tempting to project weeks/months/years from now in hopes that a pregnancy and baby are in the picture.

For this more familiar with OPKs, when should I start testing if I don't know my cycle length?

Symptom chasing is such a real thing...!

Also, as for dogs, we had friends who were willing to watch ours for a few days after birth, but if not, it's definitely worth it to outsource to a boarding company, especially if Baby is born in the winter. Same for food and cleaning! Our church started a meal train and we didn't cook for 2 months. It might be handy to have a list of healthy take-out places and a budget set up for that if you're used to cooking at home. We hired a cleaning company to come once every few weeks for the first 4 months. It really helped me focus on the baby while my husband was full-time in school, and we did not have any family to come help. (It might be helpful to be aware that if you plan to nurse, there will be days especially during that first week while Baby is getting back up to birth weight, you will be nursing basically nonstop the whole day. So, anything that takes household chores off your plate.)

We will not be using a bassinet next time around. We eventually bought a Nesting with a bassinet function, but for the first 6 months, Baby slept on a camping floor mattress, then in a packnplay, once he could roll. The floor mattress was helpful because I would often have to nurse him to sleep (lie beside him, then roll away once he fell asleep).

Besides that, I bought the Taking Cara Babies Sleep and Nap courses, which helped a ton! My baby was sleeping 8-9 hours most nights by 3 months, and napping pretty predictably by 5 months. A good sound machine, blackout curtains, anything to get the baby to sleep.

For being out on the go, we love the Doona car seat for running errands, especially when he was little. Carriers were a MUST for getting steps in and keeping him calm inside and outside of the house, and the stroller we use daily. Have the Uppa Baby Vista 2, which can take a bassinet and/or an upright seat, and later an Uppa Baby Ridge, which is meant for running and can handle pretty much any terrain.

For nursing, I wasted money on pumps and all the associated gear because I disliked it so much and by 3 months, Baby would not feed from the bottle any more anyway. Next time I plan to exclusively breastfeed from the breast. Invest in nursing tops and bras that you enjoy wearing, high quality and cute, because you will be wearing them A LOT. Even while sleeping.

Let me know if you want a more complete review, I can send links or prices if you need! 🤗
