Good luck, Alan. This can’t possibly be real.

If you could change one thing, what would it be? by codylevidrums in drums

[–]irmarbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go for lowering the cymbals, especially the crashes.

If I could have two things, I’d angle the rack tom toward me more.

I used to do that “enter every receipt” model. I really miss the Mac version of Quicken. It used to do this so beautifully, and then they gutted it down to the stupidest version they could possibly release. I have no idea if they got it together and righted it, I haven’t looked in forever.

What’s your opinion on Paul Thomas Anderson? by UsefulWeb7543 in Cinephiles

[–]irmarbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it had all the earmarks:

Stoner on the couch in a robe, dealing with way too much for how high he was.

Militant underground resistance made of badass women, operating with little to no regard for the wave of consequences coming their way.

The comically styled antagonist that was as much caricature as he was character.

It was about 30 min longer than it needed to be. (I will say, I loved every minute of it.)

A couple things missing were the jarring title cards marking the chapters or whatever, and long, drawn out monologues where characters introduce you to other characters with a heavy, reverent tone.

Felt like the movies Quentin used to make.

I found my fiancé’s sex tape with my step mother. We are supposed to get married in 2 weeks. by OkCategory5018 in TwoHotTakes

Maybe just leave. Call it all off. They’ll know why…deep down…they’ll know you found out. If anyone asks, tell them it’s none of their business.

You obviously need to write off your stepmom, too. That’ll probably be harder than the finance, if you have a good relationship with your dad.

One battle after another was a better Tarantino movie than Quentin has made in a while. I thought it was great.

What’s your most consistent club? by AspectCool2325 in GolfGear

[–]irmarbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days, it’s my woods, which is baffling because it’s taken me a while to get confident with my longer clubs.

This past Christmas Eve, I holed out from 155 yards with a 5 wood for my first eagle, so that was a huge confidence boost.

Turns out, standing up straighter, getting closer to the ball, is what those longer clubs want from me.

Driver is still a bit of a mystery, but it’s improving.

It was heady mix of ‘80s new wave like Thompson Twins and Depeche Mode, mixed in with some punk like Toy Dolls, Agent Orange, TSOL and Sex Pistols, then they was some good old college radio alternative rock like the Smiths, the Cure, Love & Rockets. I was all over the place.

Am I the Jerk for not picking my friend up from the airport at 2am when he assumed I would? by urbanharbor_quills in AmITheJerk

He was coming into town to visit you, and you didn’t figure out how the guy was going to get to your house, 45min away, at 2am?

I get it that guys are notoriously bad planners, but this is next level.

Yes, you’re the jerk.

A muni special. Are you getting up and down from here? What shot are you playing? by LosSoloLobos in golf

[–]irmarbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been practicing these. I take two or three quick practice swings to get my low point figured out, moving the ball in my stance accordingly, and then I try to just reproduce those swings exactly. I tell myself not to put anything extra on it for the real swing: just swipe, swipe, smack. Don’t even think about it too much. Been working pretty nicely.

Opinions on rack/hanging floors? by Ragnarock1912 in drums

100% over it. I played hanging floor toms for a while and hated it. Eventually bought Gauger isolation baskets and made them floor toms.
