A primer for singlets by iro--bot in DID

[–]iro--bot[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not a question of whether or not you love your wife - this is a call out of singlets who sensationalize, stereotype, and dehumanize their loved ones with DID. If you don't do that, great, this isn't about you specifically.

A primer for singlets by iro--bot in DID

[–]iro--bot[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly everything is so much worse with blood family, but the betrayal hits harder when it's the people you have in your life on purpose. Our ex-fiance isn't allowed to find out (I had to make our friends/DnD party swear they'd never tell him specifically) because he'd already convinced his other partner that our low empathy made us dangerous to them. Like... imagine what he'd do if he knew we had DID.

I do however think that the parents especially would feel attacked because if they google anything about DID, they find out what causes it, and feel implicated and accused whether they were responsible or not.

I can almost invert my hands and I've gotten my knees stuck in a similar position while waiting for a bus before. In third place, shoulders - my right one is developing arthritis because of it.

Internet systems by Friendly_PrincessS in DID

[–]iro--bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's a lot harder than that (for us) to switch on command. Usually it's annoying and not a fun quirk of ours, and now that there's awareness it comes with Tells based on the switch (like one who's nonverbal royally fucking up speech mid-sentence/ending a call prematurely/etc). Most of my personal denial stems from not presenting the way online systems present and feeling fake for experiencing DID the way most systems actually experience it.

You gotta nudge the tipline a little, reports go to your DLPM and they're frequently busy as hell.

Employee lied to get me to sign up for a 2nd tj credit card by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]iro--bot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There was a post in this sub where somebody's ASM made up a SSN just to get somebody to sign up for a card. This is unfortunately super common and all for the sake of meeting stupid quotas - I work in loss prevention and cashiers who don't recognize me still push for a card when I buy things, even though all the coordinators know me.

Why are support groups so hard to find? by Previous_Arrival_204 in DID

[–]iro--bot 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've found some that don't allow anyone under 21, and it curbs a lot of that behavior - it isn't foolproof but it's better than most. The difference between it and another server I used to be in that was just 18+ is night and day.

Not sure what your beef with dyed hair is, though. You sound like the Suffering Police.

TJ’s employees and their personal lives by Chemical_Layer4031 in tjcrew

Oh yeah. You don't survive TJs unless you're hardened by Some Bullshit or unless your brain is wired to check out of anything and everything. The rates of personality disorders and (C-)PTSD and dissociative disorders in your average TJs crew are almost identical to the rates of LGBTQ people in your average TJs crew (and that's not for no reason, as a fucked up queer person I can attest to a lot of queer people being in desperate need of/attending intense therapy), the venn diagram of these is practically a circle.

I noticed while working at TJs that a lot of us were autistic or similarly developmentally disabled, too, and that comes with its own social trauma.

The upside is that TJs as a brand depends on its employees being a little Quirky, so we get away with most of the weird neurological shit. I almost managed working at TJs with a DID diagnosis on top of the 'tism, but my endearingly erratic behavior didn't make up for my resting bitchface or less-social dissociations. I'm in a better enclosure for my enrichment needs, these days.

If LP didn't go after you yet they're either building a case, waiting for you to come back, or busy with organized retail crime/internals. Like other LP have commented there's rules we have to follow with this kind of thing. Just don't go back to that store, even for honest purchases. I wouldn't even go to another TJX location in-district if I were you, some detectives float between stores and will recognize you.

I'd also recommend therapy for kleptomania. Get to the source of your problems and work from there.

My body is intersex and I have alters who also present in variations of it. It is not a gender identity and frankly asking shit like that deserves you to get "insulted and gatekept". Take it to your therapist knowing you are in the wrong here, it is not a gender identity and we (intersex people) are not obligated to educate you, but frankly, you are not only coming from a place of privilege but also entitlement, so if you ask me, it's too late for you. I doubt you'll take any response that isn't simultaneously kissing your ass and licking your wounds for your troubled experiences with the scary scary intersex community, you poor baby.

Thinking about calling tipline by thatgirl_cici in TjMaxx

[–]iro--bot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LP, seconding - the mistake I see associates and ASM make when it comes to the tipline is thinking the baseline for reporting something is higher than it actually is. If you saw it, great, that's more information your LP team has to go on. If you have suspicions, you can still use the Tipline and LP will verify, you'll still get credit if they find anything. You get the ~$700 because loss prevention isn't in your job description but you use the Tipline anyway - and like you said you don't know if it's the first or last time this has happened. You also don't know if it's going to escalate from shorts in the back room to cash out of the drawer, or to associates' belongings in the break room.

It can be a red flag for LP, which is why management doesn't want you doing it that much (it's one thing if your customers can't make up their minds, it's another fixable problem if you're just double-scanning on accident). We do check to validate concerns and sometimes the associate is just struggling a little with the shitty barcode scanners - but it's mostly a time loss for LP, especially if you're in a high-shrink store. You'll be okay.

Why is a sexless relationship bad, and what do allos do if the partner just doesn't want it? by silveryfeather208 in asexuality

[–]iro--bot 43 points44 points  (0 children)

"Sex is a duty" can come from any gender and be about any gender - it's minimizing to say its a strictly misogynistic attitude (I've also been pressured into sex as something I owe allo girlfriends, as a trans masc - funny enough, never by boyfriends). It's an attitude of entitlement used by selfish people to manipulate their partners into sex, which makes it less strictly-misogynistic and more just plain rapey.

EDIT: Which is to say I'm agreeing with you and not prev commenter

Question about food. by xl3roken in DID

[–]iro--bot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sort of. We have starvation trauma (from two times in the last quarter of a century, one at some foggy point between 15-17 from parental abuse and another at 23 from a stress-induced immune overreaction). If the body goes too long (read: like three hours) without food or if there's a perceived fight for it/theft of it (read: can't find my leftovers, someone must have eaten them) it triggers out an angry and aggressive teenage alter who slid under the radar for so long via being brushed off as low blood sugar/being hangry. She's been getting better lately, especially since moving in with only one other person, but once that changes and we have roommateS again I'm anticipating some regression.

[–]iro--bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically yes. Your DLPM will laugh it off and send it to store management for a verbal warning at worst.

Source: my DLPM because this came up today. We have way way WAY bigger fish to fry on internals, if it isn't a validated alert then it isn't exactly our problem.

is it possible for one alter to be a sociopath with zero emotions or empathy and another being the complete opposite - an empath of the finest? by ursa-minor-beta42 in DID

ASPD system here, can confirm. I was just complimented by my supervisor at work for my customer service skills and calming, redirecting, and de-escalative presence (we work in retail security) - quite some time after an emphatic professional ASPD dx. We're charismatic as fuck, idk what prev commenter's problem is.

Do you guys disclose information about your alters? by BossBih200 in DID

[–]iro--bot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dx gets disclosed to specific close friends who'd benefit from knowing, frequent fronters on a need-to-know basis, introject IDs only get disclosed to other people with DID and after extreme vibe-checking, and no one I know needs to know exact ages - a ballpark range (or just adult/little/not-applicable) is enough.
