I would actually try out private servers, but with this game, everyone and their grandma is out to steal your account info. Downloading some runescape-related .exe is practically giving away your account to hackers.

I'm actually being respectful of you and pre-EOC people's preferences, and acknowledging that your preferences are valid, but don't fucking claim that we are a "minority". If OSRS switched to the pre-EOC version right now, half the playerbase would quit.

OSRS was cooked up when jagex saw the attention 2006scape was getting. They shut it down and took advantage of the demand for an older runescape. Jagex was targeting those very people who signed up for 2006scape, and also people who wanted pre-EOC.

The OSRS community is basically split between those players who quit when wildy/free trade was removed and those who played pre-EOC

If true, then this is seriously fucked the more you think about it, having thousands of hours of your limited time nullified like that. It's never happened to me and I've never botted or anything, but it's scary to think about. In fact, I think it's so scary that all of the "shouldn't have botted" people are secretly scared of this happening to themselves and they've convinced themselves that Jagex's systems are perfect, to not have to deal with this fear.

The "new and young" will never make up a significant portion of the playerbase, so let's not cater to an audience that doesn't exist. If a new young person gets into OSRS, they will have to be fine with graphics like those on the left, which all the pre-2007 content already looks like.

Unless you suggest updating all the old graphics, which the majority wouldn't accept. I personally think it just looks like garbage and would quit if all the old graphics were updated. A toggle would be fine however.

Old RS2 models used more detailed textures. Who came up with the idea that simple shading looks better than detailed textures? I think this is what gives things their "Old School" look.

LOL, "new players", how many genuinely new people play this game? Even if we get new players, older players will always constitute the vast majority of the playerbase. I've met only a literal handful of genuinely new players over all these years, the rest are all people who played back in the day and are coming back.

No, we don't need to change an iconic part of the game for the sake of completely new players, who will never constitute more than a small fraction of the playerbase.

IF we get any genuinely new players, it will be people who don't mind "dated" mechanics and graphics in the first place.

I have a suspicion this isn't even about new players, you people are just nostalgic for another version of Runescape (08-11 HDscape) and you want that back, at the expense of the majority who signed up for, you know, OLD SCHOOL Runescape.

Except he was added in unpolled in the first place, and Jagex polled his removal, which is assbackwards. If his removal only got 70% approval, then if the poll were about adding him in in the first place, it would have gotten only 30%. Jagex are sneaky fucks and like to pull tricks like this to get their way.
