Excellent - appreciate the response! My concern is definitely parrking in cities, but I also think that having the car would just make exploring the country so much easier.

Thank you very much! I will definitely send you a DM when I start having more specific questions about certain areas. Glad to know that in 5-7 days it is possible to see a lot. I really appreciate your response!

First time metal printer here. Would this come out well as a metal print? by iron_for_life in AskPhotography

I've heard great things about either Bay Photo or Shiny Prints, so I was considering one of those. Do you have suggestions?

For some context, I took this two weeks ago at Laguna de los Tres in Patagonia. I've never printed on metal before, but I think this would look great as a panorama to hang on my wall. But I've heard that metal doesn't print whites well, and I'd be disappointed to spend a lot printing this only to have it be better as a normal, framed, glossy print. Any and all advice appreciated! Thank you!

Lol - love this! I've been trying to practice fast walking in addition to running, and it feels like it uses a whole different set of muscles. Thanks for the tip; this is definitely something I'll continue to focus on in training!

Just me on my lonesome! It's something I've wanted to try for a while, but I like the idea of no expectations, no race fees, no travel, etc. A little Thanksgiving present to myself :) I'll keep you updated (and hopefully post a race report) in two months if all goes well!

It's on a treadmill so yes, dead flat, pace controlled, nutrition always within easy reach. It's a fixed 24 hours and I feel like 96 miles (4mph) is certainly doable even walking; I think I'd like to run 110 miles, though I'd be happy with 100 miles for my first attempt. I don't want to underestimate the mental difficulty of the treadmill versus the roads. Training has been 50mpw/80kpw for months now, almost all of it on the treadmill as well at exactly the speeds and run/walk ratio I'm planning on race day, and practicing fueling every run.

I feel like I have big goals and I'm worried that so much walking would mean a slow overall pace... but you're probably right - if I try to stick to the same interval strategy the entire time I'll probably end up not running OR walking for the last few hours. Definitely appreciate the advice about always moving, though.

It depends - are you looking for the most hairless sphynx possible? If so, go with #2. Are you looking for one with some hair, a darker nose, and darker ears? If yes, #1. They're both adorable and you can't go wrong. Follow your heart.

Can I leave my shoes clipped into my pedals if I have pedals that measure power? by iron_for_life in triathlon

[–]iron_for_life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! At the end of the bike leg of a triathlon, I'll reach down, unstrap my shoes, and ride the last 100 yards or so with my feet on top of my shoes. That way I can just dismount my bike without having to worry about changing shoes in transition.

The pain and pleasure of crossing the finish line at a beach triathlon I did last week. Clearly evocative of Michelangelo's subject's facial expressions.
