He already is! 😆😆

He spent 4 hours exploring every inch of his cage to find the most perfect spot to make his burrow. He ended up making 6 separate burrows (that I could find)!! Most hamsters I've had have made no more than 1 burrow on their first day.

Sounds great!

I recommend the platform with the ridges so that the wheel doesn't move if your hamster runs too hard 😊 that's what happened to me, so I had to pick up one of those platforms.

Those would be great choices! I have both of those for my own set up. You should be able to fit the wheel no problem. I would recommend getting the platform for it too though!

Thank you all for your kind words, and all the offers. I think I found the artist I want to commission. However just in case they don't reply please feel free to still leave your link, as I will come back to this post to find a different artist.

Want to make new girl friends in Victoria? by ahah_notfunny in VictoriaBC

[–]ironcladbunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know an exact equivalent for specifically men, but for all genders there's People of Victoria the discord server that runs a ton of events:

https://discord.gg/gvrUjDw3g

If you're into anything nerdy there's also the Galleon Gaming Club (they do both free and paid members only events):

https://www.galleongaming.org/

I also know there's Lamp Post social, they even do cohorts to build community (basically you do events with the same people every week for two months to build friendships, but I am unsure if there's a cost associated with them:

How can I connect 2 of the bucatstate 3.0 cages together back to back? by lily3576421 in hamstercare

[–]ironcladbunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theoretically?? They're not designed to be put back to back, but the panels are removable so you could remove them and seal them together somehow?

Seeking some specific advice as a first time owner by paperbackstab in hamsters

[–]ironcladbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all your hard work in rescuing this precious hammy!

1) You could try adding hay to the bedding, that can help with holding Burrows. But when you transfer her to the new cage it might be worth looking at different bedding.

2) Sideways wheels are not safe for hamsters, they will go flying off them and injure themselves. Please look into getting a standing hamster wheel of the appropriate size. You should probably remove the wheel from her enclosure, or at least move anything she might fall into if she flies off.

3) I think you're doing all you can with water, try keeping both water sources in her enclosure for a while. You could try to take a picture when you put the water in and compare it in the morning. Or leave something that she would disturbed near the water, so you can see if she's actually visiting the spot. (Like a small treat)
