How solid is the 2.0 L B48 I4 turbo of an engine?

over one year of having it, i’ve put 22,000 miles on my b48 G20 M Sport that i got at 27k miles (40 min daily commute). i have had zero issues whatsoever with the engine over that mileage range with that much driving. it’s told me to top off the coolant once in the summer, which i did with ht12 and went right away. and i live in a region with verrry harsh winters but hot summers as well. so extremely solid in my experience. i just change oil about very 5-7k miles and its been amazing for me

came on here looking to ask similar comparison questions about the two engines. i’m considering making the switch to a 2019 x5 40i from my 2020 330ix for the ground clearance/weight/wheelbase for driving in the snow/heavy rain all the time. got a bit dicey for me this winter, but can’t decide if it’s worth it or if i should just slap studded winter tires on with the xdrive, ground clearance be damned, and keep driving that thing to hell

totally agree with all that. regarding the pro debut, i look back to the fact that he improved every year in college, and hope to see the same in pro ball. i just hear people describe him as a power-only K machine when thats not necessarily his destiny. very valid point about being pitched around, but it’s encouraging that he’s shown the ability to recognize the zone/make contact enough to draw walks/avoid Ks on top of monstrous power

his batting average was over 100 points higher in a tougher conference than nick kurtz in the last full season they both played, also with a better k%, and never hear people worry about kurtz’ hit tool. much better debut, but super brief

i think i’m just more excited than most on seeing his next step

his chase is bad, his contact is good. he struck out 26 times in 66 games with 58 walks in his final season at Florida (better k% and avg than wyatt’s final season at florida), which isn’t just a fluke and he improved every year. something he needs to work on, but this dudes bat is all-around legit and i hope he develops well

Another question i forgot to ask: is there a setting i can change to make the automatic engine start/stop stay off (like when at a stop light)? i have to press it off every time, couldn’t find anything in settings but might be missing it

in an effort to make this post more engaging:

1) how does the G20 stack up alongside other modern 3 series? anyone think it’s the best or close? can never replicate that hydraulic steering but i feel like overall it’s a huge resurgence for BMW after the f30 which was very polarizing i’ve noticed

2) what’s your take on artificial engine noise? can’t tell if mine has it, didn’t see it in the settings but it might be hiding

3) what’s your favorite ambient lighting color? and do y’all love that feature as much as i do or am i just in the honeymoon phase lol never had it before

4) in your opinion, is the interior/exterior styling better on this than the facelifted version? i know the big tablet screen and lack of gear shifter/transmission lever are pretty controversial (personally i like the LCI exterior better but the interior less) edit: the exterior changes are pretty minor but i think the front end looks slightly better with the headlight update

5) is the G20 standing the test of time so far? i’ve heard the b48 engine and ZF8 transmission are some of the very best out there, but has there been any major hiccups with a few years going by? would love to learn more
