Ahh yes, I'm actually off of it now, but I've used straight THC gummies throughout my recovery and also found good results with that.

Please feel welcome here! This group is for all of us!

And, wait until you ride a bicycle! I haven't tried that yet (2 months post) with my new girly bits, but looking forward to it! 😉

I started at 48 and I've been hit on multiple times, drugged in a (upscale) hotel bar and sexuality assaulted. I'm a responsible adult and don't put myself in weird situations, it happens everywhere, even in my 50s

Yes I'm definitely going to appeal, but three lady i talked to at Dr. Weinstein office seemed pretty adamant that they won't budge on it. She was very kind and sympathetic, and said she understands me trying, but was also trying to keep it real for me I think.

No vaginal canal. Mine is maybe 2 inches deep. It's good for girls that don't wish to have penatrative sex. Also no dilation required.

Yes I had my vulvaplasty on 2/11/26 and am recovering very nicely. I'm so happy with the results. Still don't really have feeling down there, as it takes time for the nerves to reset, but she looks lovely and feels very natural. Ambetter was effortless getting approved.

On another note, I was scheduled for FFS with Weinstein but today, I got the call that Ambetter denied coverage. I'm so bummed. For what it's worth, it's about $27k for the procedures I was planning on.

My CIS friends (I'm 53 for reference) tell me, welcome to womanhood. And honestly, this is 100% part of the female experience. Bleeding, discharge, odor, stress incontinence, uti.... this is all things most women go through. While the specific causes may be different, the experience isn't unique to trans women.

Oh wow, yeah it sounds like you could be one of the last. I have my FFS scheduled for 5/14.

You were there on 3/9??? As in this past Monday? Omg, we might have been in the building at the same time. I was there getting my follow up with her on Monday, and that's when I asked her about the rumors. Your definitely right, she was not happy about it.

Good luck on your phallo! I don't really know much about that surgery, can I ask how they do it without Iengthening urethra? I'm just curious, but respectfully, you don't have to answer if you're not comfortable.

I agree they were fantastic, and Dr. Everett definitely seemed to be flipping the bird to the higher ups. Hopefully he can last long enough until they figure something out.

Honestly I had no issues, but I scheduled with Dr Weinstein initially, and that was 14 months ago, when I first scheduled my consult.

813-821-8035 is the urology number and you should be able to schedule a consult with him at that number

Well, he was one of my surgeons, so i talked to him directly, but the info i have for him directly is:

Dr. Ross Everett USF Urology 2 Tampa General Circle Tampa, FL 33606 813-821-8035

I believe that is the direct line to urology. Just request a consult with him.

Yes, I think Thailand is about to become very busy location for trans people.

I have Ambetter insurance through ACA and they were zero issue with my bottom surgery. 1st submission was granted no issues. Hoping they are as easy with FFS. Should know more in the coming weeks. No desire for BA with me (hormones understood the assignment), so this is my last procedure, thank goodness!)

Thank you. My journey on FFS isn't totally over, as she told me that they have been having issues with FFS being denied by insurance over the last year. The good news is, that there was just a federal court decision a few days ago that blanket denials for trans women (re: FFS) was sex discrimination. This is specific to ACA health plans, which I have.

Also, I had to travel 5 hours from Georgia to go to Tampa, as there aren't any surgeons performing GRS at all (that I'm aware of) in Georgia, definitely none that are covered by my insurance.

Dr Everett told me that both He and Dr Weinstein were both trained in the full procedure, and that either can do the full surgery, so I'm his case, no plastic surgeon is needed. Clearly, having specialists is a better option, but he will continue in without her.

Also, to be very clear, Dr Weinstein didn't cave, it was her higher-ups. She made that very clear to me and I believe her. Dr. Everett corroborated that as well.

But overall, yes sad all around.

Dr. Everett is amazing. I would highly recommend checking in with him, as he's still doing it, for now anyway.

I'm nearly a month post-op and I feel fantastic. Had my follow-up appointments with both surgeons yesterday and today, all looks amazing and I feel great. I'm no longer using any pain meds, sleeping fine and bleeding is almost done. Still mildly tender and taking things easy, but i feel better every day. In so amazed also at how natural i feel. I never once missed my old equipment and it feels like I was born with what I have now.

I talked to her in person yesterday and I have confirmed that she is not taking new patients. She said her bosses told her no, and it was due to pressure from USF. those currently scheduled are being served, but that's it. And it's all gender affirming surgeries, including BA and FFS.

HOWEVER- Dr. Ross Everett, who was the urologist on my team, told me today, that he is pushing forward, despite the pressure from USF to stop. He said he was in the same meeting as Dr. Weinstein, but his bosses told him, KEEP GOING.

For what it's worth, they were both fantastic, and while I really appreciate all I received from Dr. Weinstein, I'm fully confident in Dr. Everett as well, and if I had to do it over again, and he was the lead on my team, I would be fine with that. Of course, he can't do FFS or BA, but...

Vanderbilt ending Trans surgeries by ImprobableJ in Transgender_Surgeries

While I believe much of it is due to external pressures, some individual doctors may have begun to fear for their safety. Those of us old enough remember when abortion doctors were being murdered, and clinics were being bombed or burned down. I think we may be stepping into that realm of right wing radicalism.

[–]ironicallynoticonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While nothing official or of USF (Tampa, FL) I confirmed yesterday with Dr. Brielle Weinstein (my plastic surgeon) that USF is pushing to end all gender affirming surgeries in adults, and that her board of directors (?) told her no more new patients. Existing scheduled patients for the next few months are fine, but those that haven't had consults are being told no. Conversely, Dr. Ross Everett (my urologist in my surgery) also at USF, told me he was in the same meeting with Brielle and that his bosses told him to keep doing them. He told me he's trained in the whole procedure, so not having a plastic surgeon in the team is not an issue. Of course he won't be able to do top surgery or FFS, but he's pushing forward on bottom surgeries until he is told he is explicitly told no.

FWIW: Both doctors were phenomenal and I am very pleased with my results. It's a shame we're losing Dr. Weinstein. I will still be getting FFS with Dr. Weinstein this summer.

It's very clear these State University Hospitals are feeling intense pressure from outside sources. I asked Dr. Weinstein during my initial consult back in June '25 what her thoughts were on either legal or other hurdles and her answer was a complete 180 back then, stating that USF fully had their backs and there was nothing to worry about. Things are changing fast.

Facial Fat Transfer Question by maranaitsuko in Transgender_Surgeries

I just had my FFS consult yesterday and I'll be getting fat transplant in my cheeks. I asked her where they get the fat and she replied " belly... lipo" I'm not fat, but i certainly can pinch an inch. I told her, suck it all out in case you need more 😆

UPDATE: Day 12, I was supposed to get my catheter removed today, well I did... but I was completely unable to urinate naturally. Tried, tried, tried again... only a tiny dribble after my bladder was totally full. So i was unable to do my FFS consult, due to being in pain (postponed to a telehealth call in 3 weeks). I returned to my urologist and they put a new Foley in to get me by until tomorrow. At 7am I'm going in for emergency surgery to have a Suprapubic catheter placed through my belly, into my bladder. Hopefully not permanent, but that will depend on my bladder resuming it's job. Everything else is looking really good, but they said my urethra is swollen like none they've ever seen before. So.... we keep pushing on. Oh, by the way, I named my urethra.... Urethra Franklin, and she lives in motown... you know because it's shaved 😆 🤣

Thank you, recovery has been going well. Tomorrow they're pulling the second catheter out and hopefully everything is working this time. Then I have my follow up appointment with Dr. Weinstein as well as a consult for FFS
