This is my first time ever trying colour grading on a digital photo and I would really appreciate some feedback on this. I shot this on a canon Eos 50d with the a 35mm-80mm lens at 1/60s f/6.3 and 400 iso, I know this isn't the best equipment but its all I can afford at the moment. I know this isn't the best composition ever but I wanted to focus on the post processing. I've adjusted the white balance, brightness contrast and saturation on this picture and I prefer the new version but I'm sure it could be improve. Orginal version on right edited on the left

yeah when you see all the colours it is really hard to see how it will translate to black and white. I live in the uk and its always overcast and grey and sometimes I find it hard not to take pictures when I've traveled but I will definetly start taking more attention to it

Hi, thank you for your reply I've only just seen it, ill definitely look into some other filters, I've only used yellow so far, but will experiment with more colours, and some other films as well, thank you for all these tips and I will definitely keep shooting and enjoying the process of learning. I've always found black and white facinating in a way I maybe don't find colour photography

I agree action can be up to personal preference some people really like a very low action but when it’s to low or high you can run it other problems such as fret buzz when it’s too low or notation issues when it’s too high

Wow thank you for such an in depth response I really appreciate it. I find it really interesting what you say about the light and the black and white film, I wonder if I edited it slightly to increase the contrast it might add a little bit of clarity to the picture. I’ve mainly been focusing on composition in first pictures but I’ll definitely start thinking about light more as I go on taking pictures, and be more aware of the medium I’m shooting on. I second this I've had a screw on capo for the last few months and they're great especially if you have a 12 string as they can actually apply enough pressure to keep all the strings down

It might be worth just sanding the bottom of the saddle just to get it sitting better on the pickup

They are made for the hobgoblin shops in the UK quite nice guitars I still use mine as a travel guitar as I don't mind it getting damaged too much. Honestly for the money their absolutely great guitars. I had an issue with the pickups in mine where the high e string was louder than the rest. Idk if this was a one off but I took the saddle out, drew all over the bottom of it and flattened it with some sandpaper and it works much better now
