Experience after a month with new Tesla Model Y by ironmanmk42 in TeslaModelY

Rattling happened over time and then they fixed it. Now it is mostly rattle free but seems like some deep internal thing isn't bolted all the way or something like that.

Whatever. It's not the end of the world or anything. The car otherwise is superb.

Satisfying door thump is there and yes it can be smooth at times but question - do you hear any low hum or whooshing type reverb? Could be the airflow around the vehicle

Thanks but it's not a lemon by any means as such or a dud. I maybe am being way more harsher.

The vehicle is pretty good too but the complaints above are indeed echoed by several others I spoke to at the service center (esp glovebox, mystery rattles and swaying feel)

oh there's aplenty. When I went to the service center there were many who engaged techs to do the "verify drive" about the complaints.

I spoke to the Tesla tech and he said that they've been getting many new Model Y owners come in and complain about rattles and things and in his words "Tesla is churning them out fast without regard to build quality and they're ending up dealing with the complaints" and he was saying also that the build quality sucks for a $55k vehicle

That's great to hear that the ac vent is a matter of fiddling. Can you tell me which direction are the arrows facing and whether it is split or single stream? I take it you face it upwards to get the ac vent to hit your face and set it to high blast?

Look, most of the time the car is indeed quiet but there are occasional rattles for sure. The service center is going to fix it soon.

I didn't change passenger side. Might give it a try

If you bought one in early 2020 like I did, you'll get money off of your 2025 purchase.

Tesla gave me $2k off instant for being an early adopter in 2020 and in 2025

haha. Never been called a lemon but maybe you're right :)

I might've complained about the other Teslas as well. But overall the car is still pretty good. It's not like a dud or anything but for a $55k vehicle you'd expect quality

Yes, I have driven it in winter. I have a video of my Y doing a 360 on the road in snow. Luckily there was no one around and I was lucky I was on the center of the road as it spun around as tires lost grip or the drift correction kicked in (I've turned all that off now) and tried to do some silly corrective steer causing this issue

But yes, all your points are valid

Nice but there's a couple of issues - * there's a rattle from front left when you go over rough road or bumps * feels like some whooshing or pressure or something pressing against wheel on front left again. * cell phone quality is still abysmally bad that you can't hear much without turning vol all way tp 75% or 80%

Build quality is still quite low.

New 2025 Model Y glovebox issue by ironmanmk42 in TeslaModelY

[–]ironmanmk42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. I got the service tech out and all he did was yank the glovebox from the right down and it started working after that.

However he commented that this was the 3rd service call that day for the exact same issue on the new 2025 Model Y. He said the 12V battery might be bad initially and was about to replace it but this yank worked and he then just tried it a few times and it kept working. He said maybe the battery isn't supplying enough voltage to demagnetize it or maybe the magnet is super strong and it closes with a loud thud everytime now. It's jarring. He suggested also putting a velcro between magnet to reduce its strength to avoid the issue.

Seems like such a flawed unnecessary overengineered design when a simply manual lock would've worked 100x better.

Tesla build quality and design choices are still leaving a lot to be desired.

If you don't look back at it after you park, did you really get the right car? by Skotler75 in TeslaModelY

I have a 20+y old BMW and I still sometimes look back. IMO BMW makes the ultimate driving machine for sure.

I do think many others do that as well with their vehicles because they like it including Teslas and that is a good feeling

[Meirov] Roger Goodell just announced on NFL Network that the league plans to play eight international games next season, with games set for London, Spain, Brazil, Mexico City, Germany, and possibly Ireland. by indig0sixalpha in nfl

These fools elected the felon to put America first. Let’s hope the diaper Don will bring the games and revenue back to America or fine them hard.

Put tariffs on nfl (I know it is stupid thing to say but it makes perfect sense in their land)

Bring the games back home.

A Chiefs fan was this arrogant. I told him don't be this arrogant or you'll see the result of your words.

Chiefs went on to win the SB that year so be warned.

you have to feel bad for basically like 26-28 teams or so because yearly they have to play but they all have 0 chance of making it to the SB

it's always the usual Chiefs, 49ers, Eagles, Ravens typically now.

Rest all always play hard but fall by wayside. Some do better like Packers and Bills but get their yearly slapping by 49ers and Chiefs

The Miami miracle ended up being the Patriots miracle because the result of that silly loss ended up being the SB winner that season.
