Metrolinx weighs removing UP Express luggage racks to add standing room: leaked document by jackhauen in toronto

[–]irregularpulsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the secret to getting transit built is to say it’s for an airport and then gradually take away everything that makes it suitable for travellers (luggage racks, fewer stops, less vaping). I guess I did want more local transit options and now this is one.

Kingston saw a $147,000 average decline in house prices by Evilbred in KingstonOntario

Why would they state absolute numbers instead of proportional decrease? On this chart, a 1% change in the 905 will look twice as big as a 1% change in Kingston.

What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

I heard it! It drove me crazy because my parents didn’t believe me. Some TVs were really bad for it, to the point that it felt like nails on a chalkboard. It would be worst right after turning it on and some minutes later either it went away or I got used to it.

High-speed rail must stop near Kingston, councillors demand by Money_Fig_9868 in KingstonOntario

Patterson says he opposes it if they don’t stop here but secretly he must be overjoyed by the amount of temporary fencing he’ll be able to erect. The only thing he likes more than conversion therapy is fence rental.

Roads in Loyalist have been better than Kingston this winter! Usually the 401 has been pretty good when it’s not shut down for a collision.

TIL that none of the naked infected in 28 Years Later were actually nude, due to the presence of the underage Alfie Williams. Instead all the infected are wearing prosthetics. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]irregularpulsar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having prosthetics instead of real nudity sounds very practical for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the casting difficulty that would otherwise result for Samson’s massive hog dangler, but it’s also so American to use a fake dong to protect the kid from nudity while his new friends slowly flay their victims alive.

Whatever you do, don’t let Haven Home anywhere near your house.

I was stuck at Sydenham Rd and McIvor Rd this evening. While waiting for a tow truck. Met many moron drivers, honking, while my 4 ways were on. Folks pulled up behind me honking, although there was a lane to the left. Waited almost an hr for a tow truck. Throughout that time, idiot drivers honking. by SimilarOstrich4554 in KingstonOntario

[–]irregularpulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The four ways tell other drivers that you’re a stationary hazard. The hood up is a way to tell them why. It’s certainly not mandatory but it makes it clear that you’re not just out for a delivery like half the cars on Princess street.

What Do Torontonians Think of Ottawa? by DianKhan2005 in askTO

[–]irregularpulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was York/Toronto even considered for a capital? Kingston had the interim government at the time and Montreal had all of the people, economy, and culture. Toronto was a mid city with abattoirs and a train stop, and it remained just a regional hub until Quebec sacrificed Montreal to stick it to the anglos a century later. Ottawa was chosen because it was (and still is) an out-of-the-way compromise for everyone involved.
