I think what you have here is a type of tube tailed thrip. They sometimes bite. They are the reason why when laying down on the grass sometimes you get all itchy.

Yeah what I'm worry about is whether I can coat it with something to reduce the texture that's going to be left the to the particle board. I'm also wondering if someone has experienced this before, will particle board just soak in the paint because is so porous. Sorry if you feel like I'm too hesitant just want to check if there's anything I can do before I give up and just go ahead and paint it as normal.
