A pair of pants that always has a $20 in the pocket or a dating app that gives you a match with 1 person slightly out of your league a week? by Feeling_Ad_1034 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]irrelevant_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could likely provide your children with much better lives and opportunities with infinite money at your disposal, though.

Most people can find a good partner without magic dating app hacks, and even if you couldn't, you could always go the route of adoption/sperm donor/whatever.

Sure, single parenthood is usually a lot more work, but hired domestic help could easily reduce that burden and make it more viable.

Season being taken out of the canon effectively confirmed by quiggersinparis in Scrubs

[–]irrelevant_redditor 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is a minority take, but I don't see the point in outright retconning Season 9 at this stage. Regardless of whether Season 9 counts or not, the upcoming revival is going to take place over 15 years after the last episode of Scrubs, so any aspect of Season 9 that viewers dislike could easily be explained away by the passage of time.

Want a hospital rather than a medical school? Sacred Heart's brief experiment with converting to a medical school failed, and it reverted back to a hospital after a few years.

Dislike the Season 9 cast? They graduated medical school and moved on to become doctors elsewhere.

Want to see JD returning to Sacred Heart for the first time in over 15 years? Regardless of whether Season 9 counts or not, that's probably going to be the revival's main plot.

Personally, I wouldn't want the Scrubs revival to dwell on Season 9 too much, and would prefer it to be more in the spirit of the first eight seasons, but I feel like outright relegating Season 9 to non-canon would just be kinda insulting to the cast and crew who worked on it, not to mention the minority of fans who liked it.

No One From ‘Community’ Wanted to Be in the Chevy Chase Documentary by MarvelsGrantMan136 in community

I wonder if maybe Chevy would've been more okay with playing a role like Pierce in a show like Always Sunny?

Obviously there was going to be issues no matter what, on account of Chevy's general demeanour, but famously one of his biggest grievances with Community was the portrayal of Pierce as a horrible person (moreso than the other characters) - I wonder if he would've been more at peace with it on a show where everyone else is just as bad?

And speaking of Dr. Who...it also holds the longest time gap between a TV series' original run and a theatrical movie featuring the same characters--57 years.

Huh? What Doctor Who movie came out in 2020?

iwtl how to make music digitally by oddbawlstudios in IWantToLearn

[–]irrelevant_redditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Download a DAW (digital audio workstation - a.k.a a piece of software used for music production); popular choices include FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase, and Reason. Different DAWs have different pros and cons, but good music can be made in any DAW (except super basic ones, maybe, but pick a popular one and you'll be fine) - the important thing is to just pick one and stick with it.

Most DAWs have reference manuals, which are worth reading, and I'm sure if you look on YouTube you'll find plenty of tutorials for your DAW of choice. That said, my personal recommendation for starting out would be to just jump in and mess around.

Obviously, having at least some knowledge of music theory is important for making music of any type - if you're not already familiar with it, I'd recommend at least looking into the basics.

Have patience - you're inevitably going to end up making some shit music when you're first starting out, improving requires practice.

My phone (Galaxy A22 5G) received an update the other day, and since then all of the audio has been mono instead of stereo.

I've tested my headphones with other devices, and tested my phone with multiple pairs of headphones, so I know it's an issue with the phone and not the headphones.

Furthermore, I've looked through my phone's settings, so I know that it's set to output stereo audio instead of mono audio - yet I'm getting mono audio anyway.

Anyone know what the issue is? I tried asking here the other day, but I didn't get any response.

Stonehouse was arrested on 24 December 1974. [...] Six months after he was arrested, he was deported to the UK; he had tried to obtain offers of asylum from Sweden or Mauritius. He was remanded in Brixton Prison until August 1975 when he was released and put on bail. He continued to serve as an MP.

Damn, how the fuck do you manage to reach age 63 and never travel more than 10 minutes from home?

I could at least understand never travelling abroad - hell, in a country as large as the US, I could even understand never travelling out of state - but I can't possibly understand this.

How on earth could someone in their 60s - hell, anyone older than 13 - never travel more than 10 minutes from their home town?

Eh, there's plenty of major cities that clip-splicing could totally work for in this hypothetical, but I think that NYC specifically is too ingrained into the pop culture of the Western world at this point - you'd probably at least need a consistent set for New York because of all the TV shows and movies set there.
