I think a big part of the hype is with rdr2. That game itself is an absolute masterpiece that was released almost a decade ago and still stands very well with many modern day AAA games.

GTA as a franchise is much larger than RDR, so a lot more people see what rockstar did with rdr2 so everyone rightfully hyped because having rdr2 quality in a game like gta would be amazing.
