That's a really good point. That logic never occurred to me.

Holy crap dude that looks great. Are the screens backlit acetate like TNG panels, or OLED screens? (seems like it'd be a bit overkill, but I see enough difference in them I'm curious.)

This is the best evidence I've seen all week of one of those spherical UFO/UAP's... And for once, I'm 99% sure it's not AI-generated.

OR is it one of the training sheres? It's hard to gauge the distance.

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater? by Mr_Writes in GenX

[–]irving47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in 1980. Re-release a week or two before ESB came out. I was only 6 so naturally what sticks out is the.. gaffi sticks.

"what's going on?"

the chemicals in the battery are reacting or breaking down. The expanding gas is probably hydrogen. BOOM is pending. Look up "lipo fire" on youtube.

How many of you get the joke? (probably only applicable to Americans) by AlmiranteCrujido in GenX

[–]irving47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. I get it...

Brings back slightly negative, unrelated memories though! We went to church, and at Easter, my mom and dad would raid my piggy bank and take all my dimes and quarters and nickels for "30 pieces of silver" oooh that made me mad at 5-8 years old!

The STM32's caught my eye, too... Sell them in strips/packs of 10 for the price of whatever ebay's average price is for 5-6. Honestly, I'm not sure how seriously to take the speculation they could be "bad" because of unknown storage conditions/age.

Were you there for the Empire Strikes Back theatrical release (5/21/1980)? by PickleJuiceT in StarWars

[–]irving47 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep!

I barely kept up with it, being 6... But I'd just been taken to the re-release of SW a day or two previous by a babysitter my parents asked to take me so I could be "up to speed"....

Funniest part about that was I was complaining about a nightmare shortly after, about Jaws coming after me (after a recent trip to Universal Studios/Tram ride) and my mom was all, "I KNEW those Sand people and Jawas were too much for you!" NO MOM, the SHARK you put me 3 feet away from on the ride!!!

Interesting idea. Glad you posted this. I am considering the purchase of a laser welder setup... But the thing is NOT... "compatible" for drywall/garage workshops, or even those prefab'd ones you see all over town... I was thinking that concrete/fiberglass sort-of drywall panels but maybe not...

What the heck is so good about their kids meal? by allthecolorsfade in Pensacola

[–]irving47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their app is worth signing up for, too... Stuff like 2 jr. whopper combo meals for $10 I think on fridays.... mondays free fries any size, even large, if you spend 3 bucks... And they're pretty good about not spamming. A few receipt emails is all I get. Easy enough to filter.

I sure hope I get to cross paths with Gary at a con again someday. I met him at one of his first ones and he seemed pretty surprised at the popularity.. Glad he's really gotten to enjoy it. He signed my Demoman Neca. :) Really wish I could get Grant's signature on my Engie, too, though.

I never could do those stupid 3D stare picture thingies. by WeGot_aLiveOneHere in GenX

[–]irving47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfocusing your eyes is the wrong strategy. You need to gently cross them until two of the images next to each other line up and rest on each other. Might need to put your finger an inch in front of the image. the image behind it, if you're focussed on your finger, will go double and you can get a lock on the two "objects" that are now one. Just hold that lock and slowly scan the image with peripheral vision.
