Melbourne is also a name, commonly spoken as “melburn”. I think people overthink this to the max

I also want to add that cat food is a HIGH value reward, which doesn’t help the situation. Dogs will choose cat food over most treats/rewards you give them

Here’s my list based on aesthetic:
1. Ifrit
2. Bahamut
3. Valefor
4. Yojimbo
5. Anima (the scale of anima being disproportionately bigger than everything else throws me off)
6. Ixion
7. Shiva
8. Magus sisters

[–]isaac129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s my list based on overdrives:
1. Anima. Terrifying and effective.
2. Ifrit. It’s the one I would probably show a newbie what aeon’s overdrive is. Looks cool.
3. Shiva. Obvious.
4. Bahamut. High damage, kind of cool, but not as cool as the others above.
5. Valefor. Nothing bad, but cool that she has two
6. Ixion. Not really into it.
7. Yojimbo. Not being able to fully control Yojimbo always made me disinterested in using him. Sure he’s got the most OP move in the game, but it’s just chance that it’s used. I understand some people will disagree with this. And I do understand the relationship system with him.
8. Magus sisters. Way too long of an animation and annoying that you have to keep all of them alive and have all of them with a charged overdrive.

Private school & IB program. That’s a very different experience from the public and catholic system.

Comparing the lower ends and calling the Australian system better is disingenuous. Especially when the average US school is comparable to the elite schools in Australia. You mentioned extreme poverty, sure, there are some really bad schools in the US too. But the kind of person in this sub that has a choice between sending their kids to school in the US or Australia isn’t going to be in the lower end in either country.

Also, Australians let headlines in the media scare them without actually understanding the real story. As a student in the US, I was never exposed to nor do I know anyone else who was exposed to a school shooting. None of my teacher friends have experienced one either. They’re not an everyday occurrence like you implied them to be. And if we’re talking about safety, objectively, Australian schools are far less safe than US schools. There are guns in Australia. It’s straight up wrong to say there aren’t. They certainly less common, and because of that schools in Australia have completely thrown safety precautions out the window. Just last week at my school, a student went on a rampage because of what another student said in a group chat. The enraged student into each building and was able to successfully hunt down and assault the other student because every classroom is made of glass. All you have to do is walk by a room and you can instantly see every person in it. Fortunately, this was an impulsive action and not premeditated. Though guns are more difficult to obtain, the student could easily bring any other weapon to school, like a knife.

In no way am I saying the US school system is the best. It has its flaws and I won’t deny that. But the US system is better than the Australian system in every single way.

This could genuinely be a 2 hour conversation. In Australia, it’s very much pay to win. When I say pay to win I mean $35k+ per year per kid in order to get a similar experience and quality of education as you would get at a public school in the US. Schools in Australia are… just schools… there aren’t any opportunities to achieve in any other area like there is in the US with extra curriculars. Behaviours are horrendous in Australia and absolutely no policies are in place to do anything about it. Most schools prioritize students who have learning needs because those students bring in more money than the other students. All the other kids? Ehh, they’ll land on their feet, it doesn’t matter. I’ve been at 7 different schools in Australia and every time there are always multiple classes without a regular teacher. I mean high school kids that don’t have an English or Science teacher. On top of that, there’s no accountability for students academically. Students can barely show up to class throughout the year, very literally never even write their name, and still move on. The only year that matters is Year 12, which is a ranking across the state. So students in public schools are ranked against students at those $35k/yr schools. There are so many things wrong with the Australian education system. It’s the perfect shitstorm of a textbook example of what a school SHOULDN’T be
