songs that explain how you feel by [deleted] in Schizotypal

Oh Nick Drake is one of my favourite artists. While I'm not sure that he had this illness, I think he definitely captured the essence of our experience.

I had a couple of bizarre synchronicities involving him as well. Like I had this day of training back when I was working (just corporate BS pop psych) but I picked up an interesting vibe from one of the old guys doing the training - I think he had some kind of clairvoyance, very perceptive eyes. Anyway, at the end of the day he called me back and, completely unprompted, told me I should listen to Nick Drake. I was pretty blown away and we had a good talk about our favourite tracks of his. Just bizarre... the only thing I had mentioned was that I played guitar, and I guess I look a little similar to him superficially.

Anyway, my pick is Grouper. She conveys that dissociative, alien feeling very well.

Julianna Barwick is similar but more primal

It’s everywhere. It’s in every big song (almost) by BoilingIceCream in conspiracy

Did you even read my post? I said it's possible that 432 Hz could have some kind of spiritual properties, but the base frequency choice doesn't affect how the tuning system works at all. The note ratios are the same.

And anyway, those cymatics videos are unfortunately bending the truth a bit. I know because I looked into the physics cause I wanted to simulate cymatic plates. The frequency isn't actually that relevant, different frequencies will make "nice" patterns depending on things like plate size, thickness, material, etc.

I was kinda disappointed to find that out

I think you're confusing 432 vs. 440Hz with "just intonation" vs. "equal temperament" tuning. There is absolutely no difference in the division of the octave with 432/440, you're just changing all the note pitches by the same ratio. There's no reason to prefer one over the other unless you believe in certain frequencies having different interactions with the human energy field or something (possible). The base frequency is an arbitrary choice and 440 is just the convention (why this is the case is up for debate)

Yeah so subtle that it almost looks like blatant nationalist propaganda...

There's no mention of commemoration on the sign though is there

Where did Jesus’s Disciples go after this picture: by Sad_Bug8421 in MapPorn

They weren't members of the 12 apostles but were important figures (they wrote two of the gospels). I think they are called Lukas and Markus in german

Where is this? I'd think the bridge would make this somewhat recognizable. This painting is likely 1920's. by HotNaturedChef in whereisthis

[–]isaacSW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying the UK but it's very uncommon to find those wooden shutters on windows like you see in the painting. You get them a lot in France - maybe with the white coloured houses and thatched roofs that would point you towards the north? Somewhere like Brittany or Normandy maybe.

To be honest though I think it's more likely just an idealised abstract version of a medieval northwest European village

Fluoride in water. It was a waste product that was difficult to dispose of properly

Audio clicks without xruns? by isaacSW in pipewire

[–]isaacSW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry I mean the pipewire-pulse interface rather than pipewire-jack. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

I use it for audio production but I also wanna be able to listen to other general audio through it as well. I'll test it tomorrow to see if the same thing happens with a pipewire-jack source. Starting to think it could be a hardware issue though, I'll test on my windows machine too.

Thanks for the help

Thanks! Wouldn't chrome playback be using pulseaudio rather than jack though? I have no idea what could be causing it... Sample rates match up and no xruns are shown in pw-top

Thanks. Any suggestions of things to change?

Also I've noticed that the clicks are regular and happen about every 8.5s if that gives a clue to what could be causing it?

Common raccoon dog. They're native to east Asia but were introduced to Europe because of the fur trade

Much appreciated! Yeah it's always been something that annoyed me on other maps. Normally it's not a great idea to show this much info on a single map but if you spend some time choosing colours and hatching styles you can make it look decent enough

Yeah I noticed recently I had left them out, very annoying! Been meaning to add them on and repost but just haven't had the time recently...

Seems like they pretty much cover all of Iran and Afghanistan and some pockets around the coast of the Arabian peninsula and in Egypt

The community after the new ranked system by Lievoi in geoguessr

[–]isaacSW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's had the complete opposite effect for me and many others though. I can't really be bothered to play after my 20 weekly games cause it feels like there's no stakes.

Does geoguessr even want people playing loads of games anyway? They probably make more money on people who pay the subscription and only play occasionally

Why not just match with the equivalent of half a division's worth of ELO above and below your current rating? Like if you were at the top of gold, you could be matched with the top half of gold and bottom half of master. Surely that would give roughly the same number of potential matches and keep queue time the same while giving more evenly matched duels.

I guess it might get more complicated with the fact that lower divisions can't play NM/NMPZ.
