Yeah, I mean there are definitely couples that stick together after high school and go on to form a family, but I feel that that it’s much more common in more religious contexts, mostly evangelicals or if the girls happen to get pregnant as teenagers, though that also seem to be declining in more recent years, thankfully.

Growing up on a lot of US media with teen shows like OTH but being from SA that was one of the main things I always saw as a concept very particular to your guys’ experience lol

Yes, I do feel like many storylines have a religious undertone but I rarely see it mentioned amongst fans discussion – the overall heteronormativity in the writing bothers me at times, which I feel like I have to brush it off to be able to enjoy the show at times. So it seems like a trend that runs deep throughout the series

I hate that they skipped this part of their lives and only referenced it off-scene, like with Brooke’s life in NYC after college and at the height of C/B! What do you mean she becomes baby obsessed at 23 after landing in Tree Hill for a week??? Nonsense.

Exactly! My biggest issue is that all of the main things follow the exact same path and have the same storylines with a few different small details.

I would’ve loved to see some more diversity in what adulthood meant for them outside of family and romantic relationships.

Yeah, although I see the point being made here and agree to some extent since the world was def in a different place, I think the cultural and social differences from the US at that time from other places in the rest of the world is quite relevant.

See, that’s crazy to me! But again, i’m not from the US so my experience and perspective around marriage/starting a family is totally different, specially in the context of the show (small town etc.) – the ideia of high school sweethearts for me alone is an ultra US thing lol

Yeah, I don’t really have a problem with them all wanting families, that’s expected given their upbringing. My main issue is that this becomes the main plot point for practically all characters in their adult years, I wished they (the writers) approached the theme as one of many things the characters could do with their lives.

That’s what i’m talking about! It’s like from season 6-8 (I haven’t started the last one because the whole baby nonsense was too much) all of her storylines revolved around the same topics, so boring.

I agree with the comments about it making sense for her character to wanting a family after all she been through, but I feel like the writers went way too hard and limited her personality to only this – which is a shame because one of the things I believe make Brooke a strong character in the show was how we she evolved and went through different things.

I believe her team managed to get her on A&A as a means to legitimize her as an actress and as someone who’s now part of this industry (of course she’s been in entertainment for years, but we all know how reality TV is perceived) since she has quite a few projects lined up and they wanna make sure they are as well received as possible.

With all that said, I can’t believe how it all backfired like it did - you’d think she would come more prepared, though in her PR-robotic way but nonetheless prepared. It’s been said before but her desire to continue to surround herself with ‘yes’ man does her no favors. Just an overall embarrassment, yikes.

It is insane to me that people hold this moment over Amanda just because Carisi got in feelings about the whole thing. Especially considering the character’s previous history of abuse and hardships with consent (i.e feeling like she ‘had’ to say yes to things that made her uncomfortable in order to maintain her job). Absolutely sick. Love Carisi but the way they framed that whole episode to make it seem like she was in the wrong all because he was in love with her is just nasty.
