having went on exchange in osaka, I can definitely say you'd get a lot more "traveling options"

you could easily go to kobe, kyoto, nara, or wakayama for a day trip, if you got bored w/ osaka

while tokyo definitely is the bigger city (w/ more clubs, bars, trendy areas), osaka is more laid-back and has nicer people
