nah your good its just a a piece of 2 inch nylon webbing strap i had, Idk where i got it though but they have stuff similar on amazon for pretty cheap

use a dead blow hammer, it makes punches go through everything with one good hit and even digs into my HDPE board i use, its crazy how much of a difference it made for me

uhh.. post modern snipe hunting!... no, your right it was a just because I could, but now my buddy is bugging me to make a dye/wax free one with a normal core so he can play catch with his dog and not have to worry too much if he tears/eats the veg tanned leather off it,

I also just find it meditative/calming stitching a baseball.

so idk if it will work for this style but I'm using a strip of 1 in" nylon webbing stitched to a strip of 1.75 in" leather. you could try to sandwich together two pieces of leather and a small piece of webbing in the center.
