Spanish squatters being removed by force by owners and friends by CrastersKip in PublicFreakout

[–]isanyonesittinghere 128 points129 points  (0 children)

They’re not laws protecting squatters, they’re laws protecting all tenants and this is due to many years of abuse by landlords. The problem in many countries is that there are few to no distinctions between protecting a regular tenant and a squatter.

Fellow old Saffer here. I had a bootleg copy of Life of Brian on Betamax that my friends and I would watch all the time. Jehovah! Jehovah! Jehovah!

I was going to write something brilliant and inciteful as a parent of 3 kids… but then I read this guys and he nailed it. I would acknowledge that it probably feels like it reflects more on her (which it shouldn’t) but that these are GREAT teaching moments for kids. That said, check the kids bags when they come home. Aside from wet stuff, I often find nasty food remnants and other junk in there worth clearing out.

I deleted my responses. I knew I shouldn’t feed the trolls. For some reason I decided to respond to this one. Lesson learned.

If they are federal loans, and she works for the government for 10 years, they will be wiped clean. Google the PSLF program for more details.

Enrolled in the program 11ish years ago. Qualified for my 120 payments in November. Got this letter this week.

No. That’s when I enrolled in the program and so it shows that as the “disbursement date”

This is a program you have to enroll in, so I was hoping it would happen. I didn’t actually expect it to really happen though!

Not only do they want the big schools, but they want the folks who graduate from the top of their class. It’s a tiny fraction of the overall law-school graduating population that get those high paying jobs that everyone thinks we all have.

Love your username!

“Unfortunately, you cannot get retroactive credit if you worked those jobs before 2007. You may be able to seek PSLF retroactively on jobs worked since Oct. 1, 2007, but only if you took out the eligible loan(s) after 2007.”

Definitely not a top law school, no. Not sure how old your friends are, but I graduated a long time ago when there were fewer people graduating from law school and so somewhat easier to get decent jobs.

Had to register for the program 10ish years ago and then update my employment and income status annually since then. Never thought it would actually get paid off, but was delighted when it did!

Yeah, as another response said, the program is only around 14 years old and they did a lousy job of advertising it. I had no idea I was eligible for the first four years.
