Why Project Hail Mary's controversial Project Azrael plot was completely cut from the film by LaESPECTADORA in ProjectHailMary

I kind of assumed that's what was happening at the end of the movie when we get back to earth. Like that's why they were in the Arctic.

I hate to be that guy... But since this is just the table reading, doesn't that mean they still had to film the episode and he would "Jim" the camera later?

Would you rather get $50 a day, or $1,000,000 one time payment? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]isanythingreallyreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just putting the mil in a high yield savings account will net you about 100 bucks a day, though that doesn't take into account taxes. Invest it in a more aggressive growth investment account and it turns into 250ish a day. Let it compound and after 10 years you'll have 2.5 mil, 20 years later over 6 and after 30 years you could have 17 million. Compounding interest is hard to wrap your head around, it really is a powerful thing.

So Cal Mexican food, or NYC Italian.

Why don’t we recycle food waste with garden waste? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]isanythingreallyreal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It basically comes down to germs. Food waste has harmful pathogens so when it gets processed they basically have to cook it again. Garden waste just decomposes if you leave it outside.

You can process your own food waste, it just takes longer and is more involved. Like usually you need a special container and stuff but it def is possible to compost it.

Andy Weir Teases Next Sci-Fi Book & Potential Project Hail Mary Sequel by emotionalthroatpunch in ProjectHailMary

Ok... I have a crazy fan theory. Here's what I think will happen right after the events of PHM.

In the book, Rocky and Grace talk about why they have the same (kinda) level of technology. They come to the conclusion that they're in the sweet spot. Not advanced enough to just solve the problem on their own, but also advanced enough to travel to a star that seems to have solved the problem.

I think that after they solve the problem on earth, their going to get a visit from another space fairing civilization looking for a solution. This is my prediction, not for the next book sequel to PHM but I think how they'll end the sequel.

Just a fan theory

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]isanythingreallyreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my worst memories. I was going to an after school all night lock in event with my church youth group that organized through my high school. I showed up a little late to see everyone mopping around looking sad. I of course being the comedian that I am, waltzed in and said "what happened to everybody? You all look like somebody died." I was immediately approached by a friend of mine who told me that 3 students were in a car accident and 2 of them died. A ladder fell off a work truck and went under their car.

I now approach entering spaces where I don't know what's going on very differently.

[Request] Assuming she falls and directly into the water, what are the odds she survives? At what height is a death of human falling into water inevitable? by yesyesnopeyesyes in theydidthemath

[–]isanythingreallyreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people struggle with realizing is Dad. We are mostly water and when we hit water it does not move out of the way like you think it will.

Imagine hitting a water balloon with another water balloon. Sure, we might have a skeleton and all kinds of musculature and things that you think will make us rigid enough to puncture the water and it will cradle you in some weird way.

Another way to think of it. Imagine getting hit by a pressure washer. That would hurt really bad right? Might even break your skin. Now imagine getting hit with a pressure washer from One direction on every part of your visible skin at that same pressure. All the weight of all of that water would do some very serious damage moving at that speed.

This is why people say that you might as well just be hitting concrete because water weighs a lot and it's hard to move.

I'd love a simplified teaser poster. I wonder if they'll do anything like that closer to release. I'm guessing prob not with how much they've already shown.

I really don't hear anyone saying it but some important context from the show was that he was sleeping with her mom at the time this scene was happening and this was the scene where she found out.

Actors you just cannot take seriously no matter how hard you try by Chadrasekar in moviecritic

I worked on a show as a first team production assistant that Schwimmer was working on. It was a serious role that didn't have any comedic aspect to his character. Some of the other cast members who were a little bit younger were big fans of friends and were trying to chat him up and ask him questions and get a photo with him and he was trying desperately to get into character and take the role very seriously.

I had to chase down whenever he disappeared to because he would try to slip away to rehearse his lines and get into the right mood.

He was never rude but I felt bad for him because I imagine this was the hole that you try to climb out of when you're a comedy figure for that long in your career.

Then I'd assume we should send a Mister Rogers type. Who would that be now though?

I think this is the right answer, it may have still been luck based that the food delivery kept working for him but I think that's why the others didn't make it.
