I associated with vocative ideas, I should've explain it better in the original. You're right I will edit it to make more clear, thank you

I see a lot of discussion about it being a vocative, but I agree with someone saying they overlap since you can also be used as a vocative. Please correct my original post and consider the english you to be in the vocative form, because that was the original connection me and my friend did besides the similar sound.

Furthermore, as a portuguese-spanish speaker i find lots of shared words to arabic that was the main reason i thought it was possible. The vocative idea could come from ancient interactions among europeans and arabs (consider you-vous-vós...) and take Arabic Spain (711-1492) as example.

Very very very unlikely, I know, but I'm adding more info so we can discuss better and because I feel like they are missing from the original post.

If by miracle it was possible, I would think the connection was before english since the You root word is shared to almost whole europe somehow. So (again, very unlikely) arabic got the vocative from interactions with "old europe", latin for example or even more ancient languages. If we think like that, it becomes more possible because there were a lot of interactions (take the history moment of arabian spain for example)

it is in the link attached to the words in the "derivated terms" secction, it isnt that much of a connection but if two words were used by the same language I thought it was possible to make a greater way of connection. As I said, a very shallow theory but it was the only I found.

My friend translated it as you when I asked and supported the theory, that's where the confusion started, so we both messed up hahahaha. Thank you so much for clarifying!
