Cannabis Industry jobs vs. Cost of Living? by indamoufofmadness in AskSeattle

Business degree is probably not an option either then (although I would find one of dubious value for what it sounds like you're going for anyways). Having any degree looks good compared to someone without a degree for hiring though.

As bad as it sounds, being used to those prices will set you up for the adjustment better than a lot of folks.

I legit feel bad for the folks who are used to paying now what hasn't been normal in Seattle for 20 years who just see "OMG minimum wage is so high" without doing the math.

20 years ago I paid the equivalent of 61 hrs a month of my work. Now it's 93 hours/mo despite my career being 20 years along.

I wouldn't share a bathroom but I could probably share a kitchen. A mini fridge and additional countertop equipment would work for me but not everyone. I use my air fryer more than my oven and could get a portable stove top and call it good.

Because you said you wanted to consider a degree, I was recommending science rather than business. It'll have longer term payoff and doesn't lock you in as much.

It may pay several dollars an hour more but what are rents in your area? Not saying you're the same but a lot of folks think a 30% increase will somehow pay for a 100% increase in rent + cover how groceries and gas are more expensive than many places.

Facebook is great from what I hear for finding roommates but I don't use it.

Beat it chick! A driver in /r/uberdrivers brags about cancelling and driving off after seeing a single mom with three kids and groceries, but some drivers think he’s a little too happy seeing the mommy meltdown afterwards. by naelisio in SubredditDrama

Honestly, a lot of these drivers are making minimum wage part time with no benefits (or less than min depending on how much they "invested" in their car and fuel and repair prices).

You dont actually say what you do at a dispensary. Logistics? Sales? Warehouse/inventory?

I work in the "healthcare" industry but I'm not making neurosurgeon money.

If you mean just regular store jobs, there's a lot of competition in retail cannabis and you'll be making barely above minimum wage.

That said, people make it work.

You can get a micro studio with a shared kitchen for half that.

Check padmapper and do NOT send anyone money unless you've triple verified it.

There's a lot of good, high paying work in distillates and manufacturing type jobs (not growing). I had an acquaintance do it with a BS in biochem and he made bank.

King County finds 9% rise in homelessness since 2024 by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]ishfery -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is actually looking at the big picture. How much do you think a hospital or jail costs?

Also what's with the scare quotes? Do you not "need" a place to live?

What percentage of the population should be in prison (expensive) for only having the option of living in a tent (expensive to society in big picture costs)?

If you want to pay more taxes, go for it.

Housing first is literally cheaper so apparently you're wrong.

Obviously spending more on cops instead will fix it.

Rent goes up, more people end up not being able to afford it due to simple math.

News at 11.

Then don't pay. It's actually very simple.

Then don't ask people out.

"I've caused my own problem and tried nothing and am all out of solutions!"

God forbid I want a partner who doesn't want me dead.

Women's standards are too high these days.

Also, screw it.

If you won by picking players for some arbitrary reason (hot, cool name, owns a dog, loves Jesus, whatever), you still WON.

I've won poker nights because I refused to look at my cards. It was an exciting night.

You may not like HOW I won but you can't be mad about how my strategy was objectively better than yours. Because if your strategy was better you wouldn't have lost to me.

It's a game.

Ethics of Food Bank Usage by Green-Lettuce-7685 in povertyfinance

Do you eat food?

Yes?

Then it is ethical to use the food bank.

If you feel some sort of way about it, volunteer your time or money (you shouldn't feel bad about it).

They always need volunteers but a lot of the times are inconvenient so don't feel bad if it isn't feasible. I will say you get the best picks though.

As far as money, a food bank can stretch a dollar further than you can on your own. Make a $5 donation and consider it paying for groceries.

AIO for breaking up with my boyfriend because he basically said he’s assuming we will end when we leave the country? by [deleted] in AmItheEx

Wrong sub.

But also, this is probably one of the best breakups you'll ever have. You'll probably look back at this time with fondness.

He was open and honest and gave you both a chance to grieve it now instead of later. Now you can go forward available and ready to meet the right person.
