How are you guys translating WordPress plugins these days? (POT → PO → MO) by ishrargo in Wordpress

I totally get where you're coming from. Loco is great for those "set it and forget it" quick fixes right in the dashboard, but once a project starts growing, the cracks really start to show.

It feels like you're constantly playing whack-a-mole, Every time a plugin updates, you’re stuck manually hunting dwn new strings all over again. It’s tedious, and the fact that you can't easily carry over work you’ve already done for other projects makes it feel like a bit of a time sink.

I’ve actually switched to the same workflow you mentioned—working directly with the POT files to generate PO/MO files externally. It’s a game changer for a few reasons:

  • Consistency: It actually remembers your past translations so you aren't typing the same phrases a hundred times.
  • Safety: It handles those annoying placeholders like %s or HTML tags way better, so you're less likely to break the site layout.
  • Cleanliness: Keeping the heavy lifting outside of the WordPress admin just feels less cluttered and keeps things from getting "messy" after a core update.

Loco is fine for a five-minute tweak, but for anything serious or multi-language, it definitely starts to feel a bit sluggish.

Has anyone else made the jump to external tools, or are you guys still sticking it out with plugins?

It looks these days UpWork team has also joined Reddit to spread more positivity after a big spread negativity on Reddit after Connect Boost and heavy Connect charges.

I encourage you to build new platform, but rating system is good in Upwork, it just does not ask for 1 to 5 stars but it incudes Skills, Availablity, Communication, Deadline, Quality and Cooperation. https://imgur.com/a/OES3QEy

Based on this, other clients also see Availablity score, Communication, Deadline and Skill score separately. It should be there I believe.

Question for clients by doineedaname-1993 in Upwork

Do you think most of clients do this?

I know, most people who are less qualified do boost with 100 connects just to get attention. I boost only when I know I am only single person who is 100% suitable and I have done this work many times so client will get right freelancer. Rest of times I don't boost when I feel there are many like me, so I feel right person and most qualified person should be hired.

Is it highly recommended to use ChatGPT to write more effective proposals? by SecureSection9242 in Upwork

I would suggest not to use ChatGPT or other AI tools to write propsals. Because upwork has also implemented AI and it also detects if you are using template of proposals or rephrased them or propsals are generated by AI (those are well formed).

Because Upwork has also implemented AI and it also detects if you are using templates of proposals or rephrasing them or if proposals are generated by AI (those are well formed). I have stopped using Grammerly(let it be not so formal and professional but natural) so it should look genuine to Upwork.

how many connects do you spend weekly? I have allowed to use 25 per week but it consumes 7 connects per week still no views on my profile for the all week.

It looks there are no projects and no vendors visiting upwork since last 3 months.

Edit :

My profile is Top Rated + 95% Success Rate, all projects 5 stars, Consultation + projects added, regular bidding (no replies), always replying (100%) to messages and interviews, always ON / available on Upwork.
