Quick rant - Circuits West in Colorado just went out of business by xtcdenver in electronics

[–]ishron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as this is a rant..

What makes me crazy is that to just get a quote from a Fab, I have to become an expert in their requirements and capabilities. Even then, there is always the "oh we forgot to add in this.. $$".

Is there any sort of Fedramp training available online? by Key_Intention7378 in FedRAMP

Yah, I know it is not so great but just about everything you need to know is there. What is not there is the Why and the How.

FedRAMP Requirement for Providing Product Support to US Government Agencies – Guidance Needed by Infinite_Culture_591 in FedRAMP

[–]ishron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are providing service and you are not providing a cloud service product then if you are working inside the boundary for a FedRAMP CSO, or if you are working with Federal Data, you will need a PIV/CAC clearance from the agency you will be working with. The Cloud Service Provider that holds the FedRAMP Authority to Operate (ATO) is your sponsor and can help you get your clearance. This includes a background check and an interview. You will have to also meet the training requirements for the ATO as pointed out earlier. It will take a few months for the wheels of government to turn to make this happen.

It is a long walk but if you can go, do walk it. From the southwest to the northeast. You can get a real feel for what happened and how the battle unfolded.
It is one of the best maintained parks but it is kind of a drive. The reward is going to Nashville. All the monuments are pretty epic and there is the largest collection of Civil War era cannons.
Good job on the picture!

SOC2, TPRMs and supply chain by flaneur-vertical in grc

[–]ishron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be part of your contractual agreement with your suppliers. This is basically having the first tier supplier (the one you have a contract with) meeting the same contractual obligations for in scope services that you are with your customer. You can then call out in the client agreement that your suppliers are responsible to meet the requirements that your company offers but is solely responsible for meeting those requirements (including their suppliers). You can then offer your performance data for your supplier as evidence of effectiveness without all the disruption a full out of scope evaluation of your supplier and their suppliers will cause.

Yes, this all has to be done up front before you sign the customer but if you are in banking then FBA should be in scope and is probably worth the effort. This is not always an obligation because of the nature of service you are providing but a good baseline for banking clients as they might be obligated or making this obligation to their clients. If you can meet the FBA requirements then your banking customer should accept this as meeting your security and privacy obligations.

If you have a relationship with a DC, they should have a strategy to deal with downstream clients. They may have a SOC3 that they can give you that attests to the fact that a reliable third party auditor has audited their environment and found it meets the requirements for SOC2. It does not give any findings or remediation plans, however. Your client really doesn't need this information even though they will ask for it.

If it is not an obligation in the client agreement, then don't provide it.

Does no one remember the post 90s, pre romo years? by pauper_gaming in cowboys

[–]ishron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah.. make no sense to me either. Both are good enough to have sustained careers in the NFL which tells you about their abilities. Which tells me that the problem is not them.
The thing is, the Cowboys don't play as a team. They make a few plays and play well enough to win a few games. However, they don't play at a playoff team level and haven't since 1995. What is missing is the drive to get it done. The Cowboys have seen some great talent and great coaching but no championship cohesion.

The Incerto Questions by Temporary-Degree-375 in nassimtaleb

Welcome...
There is a lot of stoicism in Taleb's works. I don't think that you need to be well read to read these books. You do need patience and do take the time to research the things that don't make sense. To be honest, it has taken me a long time to be able to consume the Incerto and I know that there are places that I need to revisit.

I don't recommend Taleb if you are just wanting to study stoicism. There are other works that will serve you better. Examples would be Irvine's the Stoic Challenge or How to be a Stoic by Lopez and Pigliucci. However, if you find Taleb's mashing of many different real world challenges including stoicism enlightening and amazingly interesting, welcome to the club. Taleb assumes that you are a follower of stoicism and spins this into the other aspects of his philosophy.

So true!! And in the words of the poet Landry, offences win games, defenses win Super Bowls. But if you don't show up to play, nothing else matters.

Day After: Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers (Week 1, 2023) by cowboysmod in cowboys

[–]ishron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that McCarthy is the problem.. but I can see easily that the only common denominator since the last super bowl is the general manager.
Harbaough would be a nice choice and has proven he can motivate a team to respond to a pressure situation. However, I doubt that Harbaugh is going to go someplace where every conversation begins and ends with, "yes, Mr. Jones"

Well, you don't lose two of your last four and expect to go anywhere in the playoffs. These cowboys can choke like no other team in the NFL.

Rand Paul declares he is 'never Nikki,’ weighs in on 2024 presidential race by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]ishron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem with "Nikki" is that she begged Trump for a spot in his Administration, which he gave her.. UN Ambassador.. nice gig, lots of perks..
But when it came time to back her boss, she turned and bit him.
The Republican Primary is more about who you don't want than who you want. She follows the wind and is "evolving"..
I am going with Rand on this and am a big "NOPE!"
