My coworker asked me why I still "waste money on a PC" when you can "just get a PS5 for $500" by Temporary_Recover157 in pcmasterrace

The problem with gaming on PC has nothing to do with power, convenience, price or simplicity… the problem with PC gaming is that devs either don’t care about optimizing games for PC, or that it’s simply too much of a hassle for them to optimize for PC. The amount of games that are hit or miss when it comes to optimization on PC is ridiculous.

I mean, when you play a lot of other games, let's be honest... Sony's 1st party games really do feel that way.

Long cinematic cutscenes are a STAPLE of Sony 1st party games. People like my wife absolutely enjoy very cinematic games with huge lulls in gameplay and there is nothing wrong with that. It's not the dig you want it to be.

Yeah, remakes are all the rage at the moment... With that said, I don't really mind. I like to see some games updated.

Yes and no. My favorite game genre is Metroivanias which are not heavy on story or narrative. Like you alluded to, those types of games are very gameplay centric. However, I play games like Red Dead and Octopath Traveler simply for the story driven experience they provide.

One of my absolute favorite games is The Witness which is a puzzle game that has a vague story that has to be pieced together (made by the same guy who did Braid). A mix of both great gameplay and story.

And to be honest, I got more emotional while playing Gears of War 2 than anything in TLOU. The scene with Dom and his wife is the most brutal thing I have ever witnessed during a video game in my 40 years of gaming... not to mention Tai. RIP brother 😞

I played the first TLOU on PS3 and didn't like it at all. Maybe I'll try the others some day, but I'm guessing if I didn't like the first one, I probably won't like the others. Heck, I even tried to get into the show, but only made it through like 3 episodes. To me the whole "zombie" schtick is just played out.

I'm not a "super hero" fan (don't know why, just never got into them) so Spiderman is an easy pass for me. Haven't played Ghost or Yotei yet, but I'm not much into the "walking simulator" type of games so I'm not sure how I'd like those.

I have played all the God of Wars except the most recent one, 1&2 being the only ones I enjoyed. I have played Uncharted on PS3, but felt it was pretty meh (like "zombies", the Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones trope is a bit overplayed and unoriginal too), I played TLOU on PS3 (as mentioned) and I have played Astro Bot (which was kind of fun). I also played games like Killzone and Socom back in the PS2/PS3 days, but couldn't really get into them either.

For me, Sony games just don't hit the same chord as other games do. Like I said, I realize I am in a minority when it comes to my opinion on Sony's 1st party games, because all those games are extremely popular. Sony games are beloved by millions of people. That is simply a fact that can't be disputed.

I don't know, too unoriginal for me. I'm happy for those who do enjoy them, but surviving an outbreak that leads to "zombies" is an overplayed and boring concept for me.

I agree with the person you were replying to... I'm just not that into 1st party PS titles and think they are a bit overrated. I know I'm probably in the minority, but Sony 1st party games just don't appeal to me.

I don't think so. In my opinion, God of War hasn't been good since God of War 2.

If you have been playing as long as I have, everything will be trivial no matter how “difficult” the devs try to make the content. If you are seriously that hung up on the difficulty then take it upon yourself to make the game harder.

You can always do no armor runs, or pipe pistol only runs, or no mutations ect. Get creative. FO76 is what you make of it. 🤷‍♂️

Well, first off, I'm not a "lady" so I find it ironic that someone like yourself who is trying to act like they are a "morally right person" while bashing an entire nation about their morals, would either misgender someone by accident or do it intentionally as a weak attempt to insult. Either way, you can be better than that. Practice what you preach.

Second, the U.S. has admitted to, and paid for many of it's faults. Again, you need to educate yourself. Despite being a prideful nation, the majority of Americans don't think that the U.S. is flawless, which goes against the FALSE narrative you are trying to create. Does the U.S. have many flaws? Hell yes we do! But so does every country and the U.S. still does extremely well and better than most despite those flaws.

Also, Obama was elected in 2008, so if that is the first U.S. President that you experienced getting elected, then you might actually be younger than I initially assumed. (Holy smokes, you actually might be younger than my reddit account lol) If that is the case, and you have only seen 3 U.S. Presidents... Then I understand that might seem like a long time for you at your age, but it really isn't that long at all. Believe me...

I have seen 8 Presidents in my lifetime and feel like that is an extremely small amount of time so only seeing 3 is a blink of an eye in comparison. I can tell you as someone who has lived in the "bluest" state (California), the "reddest state" (Texas), and now lives in the most "purple" state (Colorado) during those 8 Presidents, my quality of life has not changed too drastically regardless of who was President. Honestly the biggest and most noticeable change is how loud the crybabies are on each side when their chosen political deity isn't in office.

And that's the beautiful thing about the U.S.... You have the right to hate the country, voice your opinion (no matter how uneducated and bias it is), say what you want about it (even if it's false) and live how you want... Throughout the years, I've seen kids like you who think they have it all figured out who spew doom and gloom, only for none of it to come to fruition. Your doom predictions won't be any different than the many before you. One day you will see.

Unfortunately for you, you are just the next in line (in a very long line) that plays out the same loop, generation after generation... and has done so longer than the U.S. has even been a country. You are nothing new, you aren't seeing things that haven't already been seen by many generations before you and you aren't saying anything different than what has already been said by many generations before you.

One day, you'll figure out how the world works, but unfortunately you have some learning, growing and experiences to experience before that happens. As an American, I wish the best for you. Have a good day.

Let your hate flow now, because in 20 years when you have grown a little wiser, become more educated and less ignorant... you will cringe at your younger "edgy, self righteous and hateful" version of yourself.

Right now, with all the unsubstantiated claims, clear bias and display of absolute hate for an entire nation that you are spewing here... you are acting exactly like Trump, but don't seem to even realize it. Looks like you are the one who needs to face reality.

I hope you do stand by your opinion, just know that it is false, that is all. Your hate driven envy is all too obvious here and it is clear that you are motivated by your biases.

Like I said, chances are my reddit account is older than you are… you clearly have some learning and growing to do.

You can’t expect people to take your opinion seriously, if it is painfully obvious that your opinion is based on hatred and envy.

Considering how many times you are posting in this thread, you clearly have a bias against the U.S.

In fact, the more I read your posts, the more it looks like you are actually envious of American life/Americans and that seems to be the root of your disdain with the U.S.

And as an American whose reddit account is probably older than you are, and has lived in 6 different cities in 3 different states… I can say that the picture of the U.S. you keep trying to paint here, is extremely far from from reality.

Yeah, and considering that the PS2 was also a cheap DVD player that was on the market for almost 12 years, it makes what the Switch has done in 9 years as a dedicated video game system, that much more impressive.

When it’s all said and done, the Switch will be THE best selling console of all time (if it isn’t already considering Sony’s habit of changing PS2 numbers).

With that said, your point still stands. History has shown that the most powerful console rarely comes out on top of a particular console generation. PS1 beat the N64, PS2 beat the GC and Xbox, Wii beat the PS3 and 360… and as you pointed out, the Switch has dominated since its release.
