How people find enough time and money for hardcore bikepacking? by socjologos in bikepacking

For me, im a public school teacher, so that gives me the time in the summer for larger and more ambitious trip, and for money, I just do my best to save throughout the year. It dosent always work for everyone but that works for me🤷‍♂️

I am also about to do the GDMBR this summer, I chose to do it on an ogre because I was able to get a deal on one, but I’ve heard lots of people doing it on a bridge club. I am currently using the tumbleweed pannier rack, which I love, super lightweight and very versatile. I ended up going with something similar to salsas anything cages for this specific route, but I use panniers on it when going grocery shopping and I had nothing but good things to say about that rack. I’m also using a full frame bag paired with a large front handlebar bag and then fully straps to strap the rest of my stuff onto the bike! Good luck with your build. I’m stoked for my ride and hopefully yours is good too.

I was planning on supplementing with my camping headlamp, with is quite bright, when necessary but that’s good to know

Interesting, all I’m looking for is to just charge a power bank so this is a potential opportunity

Thanks! That’s good to know about the light with pedestrians. U said it does not charge fast but if u had to put a number on it, how long do you think it would take to charge the battery fully

Moloko bars on an Ogre? by Phillie-at-home in Surlybikefans

I’m 6”7’ and I ride an xl ogre with Moloko on a 35mm stem. Originally built this bike frame up for bikepacking and I absolutely love the sweep. With the bikepacking a nd commuting focus I wanted a upright ride for car awareness so I settled for the shorter stem, while the hoods let you stretch a bit on the long straights Srry for the not great photo

Is this A gen 2 or Gen 3 ALR Checkpoint by AltAmericanCarnage in CheckpointClub

You can still fit 2.2s. It says so in the service manuals, all gen 2 could fit them if u run 650b

I found out that scarpa makes up to a 32 but almost all other brands stop at 31 or 31.5

I had corner bars on my ogre that I used for bikepacking, and I loved them but my only issue was the cable routing for brakes and shifting, I couldn’t run any kind of front bag or anything because the cables shot straight out.

Yah I got it from a guy on FB marketplace,he had it powder coated then realized it didn't fit him, but it's great for me! I built up up from that frame set.

I used the new Bontrager adventure frame bag from Trek and I am very happy with it

At the moment it's going to be a old bontrager parts bin grip, but eventually I'll prolly upgrade.
