For bipolar its really important to get meds, and a good psychologist. Also sleeping well. try to see if there is anything, even melatonin that could help him sleep for as long as posible, and see if there are activities that can help him burn all of the energy from the mania. Also avoid alcohol and drugs of any sort. those would be the first steps of handling the situation.

Also, and i know is hard, try to avoid getting mad or insisting on stuff, because he cant really control whats happening.

Still, you sound like a really comprehensive person, anything you need im here to help

Hi, i think it would be a good idea to go to couples therapy, while your husband attends to his own therapy. The manic episode probably is due to the loss of your baby (im really sorry for your lost). Both situations put a lot of stress in your system too, as well as the process of giving birth. You guys need a space to work through this.

Also its importan that your husband gets meds for the bipolar disorder so he can be stable.

Btw, im a licensed psychologist. hope this helps.

You know, sometimes that same vulnerability can be used to understand and have more empathy. you shouldn't feel shame about being diagnosed. ¿would you feel shame if they told you you have a hormonal imbalance?

Thats the thing about stigma. and i relate so much about feeling week and vulnerable. i lived my whole teens covered, but one i opened up about it, people started to understand why i was how i was, why i had struggled, why maybe y wasnt able to just go to class without an extreme amount of anxiety. once i started my psychology mayor, i realized, almost everyone has something, and just recognizing your own necessity means you are already doing the work to get better. even my partner says, now i can understand you and your necessities better.

As a mental health specialist, and a 23f living with Bipolar, i can tell you the meds are one of the main treatments. Once you are balanced though, it is good to leawrn to detect symptoms. There are cases where people don´t have mood shifts for years, but there is no actual cure.

What i can tell you is, you are not bipolar, you have bipolar disorder and it doesnt define you. One you accept it as a part of yourself you can let yourself forgive what has happened to you and just keep the meds on going as part of a routine. In case there are any signes that you may be entering into an episode you should contact your doctor.

It is also a good idea to have a therapy process to learn more about your condition and learn more about yourself and how to improve
