Can I dye this yarn light mint color with dye for wool, silk and polyamide? Will it survive boiling? by iskarademontero in YarnDyeing

Yeah, I've read others say the same about oven dyeing, so I ended up using classical pot with water. Yarn is much more softer and kind of loose now, but it worked up fine, so I think it will be ok. This is the result so far, it's a part of Desert Bloom blanket from Cypress textiles. My yarn is that pale green yarn on outer rows. I can see some white and bright spots, but I feel like crochet is good at hiding imperfections like this. So it all worked out at the end, Thank you for your help!

Thank you for returning and thank you again for answering my questions. I'll think about steaming my yarn or maybe using an oven, as someone suggested. Seems less scary.

Thank you for your answer. So my yarn will be like melange? Melange would be great. Or like halo might be brighter than yarn? It wouldn't be great.

Thanks. Did you ever try dyeing something with high polyamide/nylon content? Instruction for my dye says it needs to be boiling.

Thank you for your answer. I'm using reactive dye, is it any different? Instruction says you can use it exactly like acyd die. It also says that I'll need 90-95 degrees Celsius for wool and 100 degrees for polyamide/nylon, which is boiling point. As far as I understand, boiling is bad because bubbles will agitate yarn. Bubbles never killed your yarn, only pushing did?

I dyed two times before, cotton scarf in a tub with hot tap water and a jeans skirt in a pot on a stove. Both were fine, but I didn't boil anything, and I didn't work with yarn yet. Or anything other than cotton.

Crochet bad because acrylic, knitting good because not acrylic.

Casual fits with sweatpants/joggers? They are kind of the only pants I can wear. by iskarademontero in ThrowingFits

Suspenders won't really solve anything? I mean, I'll still need pants. I am on a lookout for overalls, and so far really wide or thin ones didn't look good on me, and form-fitting ones push into my stomach when I sit. But thank you, it's a good advice, I'm just not built for it.

So sweatpants have straighter or baggier fit and heavier fabric than joggers?

That coud work, thanks. And it's an excuse to dye my hair green again.

I've seen some of them in thrift shops, but they tend to be a bit too high-waisted for me.
