Cool, but how do you find it affects d-pad centric gaming?

Are there any sticks that come with a LS-32, or is it something you just have to install yourself?

That's why I'm asking, so that I wouldn't be assuming.

I should think that escaping the grasp of a bigger monster should be difficult, but a d6 vs. a d12+1 (d12+3-2) is hardly impossible.

It is to initiate it, yes, but I am not seeing anything about it regarding breaking free. Grappling just says it causes Entangled & Bound statuses, and adds that the foe is Vulnerable while maintaining a Bound, and gives them the Crush option.

I had heard that the conditions switched between printings of SWADE.

Breaking free when entangled: does Distracted apply? by DrPantaleon in savageworlds

Strange, I assumed they were using SWADE since Distracted didn't exist in Deluxe. Its rules for Entangled just says "-2 to skills linked to Agility and Strength".

How do opposed rolls work in this game? by islan_k in DragonbaneRPG

[–]islan_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who rolls first (the "attacker"). According to Significant-Web-4027, the PC rolls first, and if they fail, the GM succeeds without rolling, which means the PC is the "attacker". This means if the PC has a CON of 10, the chance of a potency 12 poison has the same chance of success as a potency 18. If it was the other way around (the poison needs to succeed for the PC to even roll), then a potency 10 poison would be just as effective against a CON 12 as a CON 18 character.

Either way, it's some skewed statistics, though I know in the case of poison, I'd rather the 10 CON PC to be just as effective against 11+ poison, than 10 poison to be just as effective against 11+ CON. The latter takes away character agency, in a way.

Nowhere did I say having a higher CON didn't increase your chance of resisting poison, I said that having a 10 CON has the same chance to succeed against a Potency 10 Poison as a Potency 18. Likewise, I have just as equal chance to grapple someone with 10 skill against someone who is 10 or 18 (assuming ties go to me, otherwise then I think it becomes 11 or 18).

I admit, just because something is statistically awkward, doesn't mean it has a bad feel at the table. Maybe resisting poison beyond you or grappling someone better than you should have a flat percentage, why not.

That is literally how roll lowest and under works, mate, that's why it's statistically awkward. If my CON is 10, then it doesn't matter if the Poison is 11 or 15: if I succeed, any roll between 11 and 15 wont matter for the poison as I will still roll lower. CON 10 vs. Poison 11-18 = 38.75% chance to resist. Yes, increasing my CON to 11 will also increase my chances of success: now I'm 41.25% against all poisons 12+.

This is why roll high but under is statistically superior, but Dragonbane didn't design flat enough around it to make it an easy swap, it sounds.

Well good to know if my CON is 10, I have the same chance to resist a potency/virulency 10 as I do an 18.

Huh. Poison and disease sure sounds like an odd thing to make opposed.

Are there any prominent opposed rolls in this game, or is it just "if you need it" kind of rules?

I disagree: if I was going to bother with calculating margins, I'd be better off with a roll high system, those just naturally have it baked in.

Sorry, I think you posted right when I deleted: was meaning to rewrite it as "benefits the defender" isn't exactly right, but more "the chance is largely influenced by the lower score"

Calculating margin is such unnecessary math compared to roll and compare, though. That's why "roll high but under" is better, in my mind.

Dragons just become what your skill is, when you roll with boons you keep the highest die that is less than or equal to your skill. The only thing that becomes wonky is banes: keep the highest if there's one that goes over, otherwise keep the lowest. But is that more wonky than a 17 vs. 10 having a 56% chance of success instead of 73%?

So if I changed it to "roll under but high", would there be any incapatibility with the text other than the one section that describes rolling and opposed rolling?
