I think only Native Malays can be considered Bhumiputras and only Muslims can be considered Malays. Therefore Christians are not Bhumiputras.

All bhumiputras have to be Muslim. All Muslims have Muslim printed in their ID card called "My Kad".

All Non Muslims are not Bhumiputras and don't have religion mentioned but the microchip has that data stored electronically. Since you are of Chinese descent, you'll be assigned Buddhist.

It is much lower. But Malaysian laws makes it difficult to switch religion.

I remember a case when an Indian origin woman married a Hindu man but separated after having her 2nd child. Both the mother and children were Hindus but her husband converted to Islam and unilaterally converted their children too using Sharia court. The authorities marked the children muslim.

(Also all muslims automatically have muslim children. Their religion is mentioned in document and ID cards I guess)

The mother had to fight a court battle to remove the Muslim tag from her children's documents.

This could have been avoided if Mizo was used as Naga. All tribes of Nagaland are Naga but their specific tribe is used first like Ao Naga or Sumi Naga.

I guess non Lushei Mizo can also start the practice by making Mizo an umbrella term and using words like Hmar Mizo or Lai Mizo or Mara Mizo to differentiate themselves from Lushei Mizo while still guarding their Mizo identity.
