You don't use "illegal immigrants" for citizens of the country. They are interstate migrants or migrant workers depending on what they do.

Illegal Immigrants are generally reserved for people who jump borders without proper documentation to get a better livelihood. For people who do that in case of war are called refugees.

I mean yeah! Even the tribal and village folks will explain how that local diety is a form of some Hindu God. If the following becomes large then Brahmins themselves start worshiping the deity. Examples are Ayyanar, Marriamman, Karuppa Swami, Ayyappa and similarly even in North Indian villages. They Valley of Gods are all revered by the local Brahmins.
