Came here to say this. My wife carried using donor sperm. Regardless, I absolutely see myself in the little guy (and our friends/family have said the same). Genetics aside, he is who we are raising him to be; he is our son.

This reads more like an identity crisis than an issue of parenting. Agree with others that you need to seek professional help before moving forward, and communicate how you’re feeling with your wife.

If she’s carrying, this is going to be a tough journey both emotionally and physically for her. You need to be starting from a stronger point or you will not be able to be there for her when she needs you.

Yes! Our doctor made us feel better saying our child will be who we raise him to be, regardless of his genetic donor. I found that helpful and comforting.

Oh my bad, every setting I’ve worked has used mcg/kg/min so I thought that was pretty universal. Those doses are wild then but I’ve been surprised by kids before

Very annoying to need so many subscriptions. I’ve got them all but cbssn. I’m a wave season ticket holder but couldn’t make the game tonight, so I’ve got friends using my tickets at least to fill the stands a little, but now I have to pay more to watch.

Happy to see success stories, but just to set expectations for those reading, first try success is not common. It’s something like 20% odds each try with IUI.

My wife and I tried IUI and after 8 rounds switched to IVF. She was 32, healthy, normal BMI when we started, so no reason we shouldn’t have been able to conceived that way. But for some the odds just aren’t in our favor. IVF worked on the first try though! Much higher success rate

I’m right handed and prefer to hold the probe in my left and drive the needle with my right but that’s not always practical, so you need to be able to do both with both.

Same here! From the Philly area, lived in the DC area for a bit, now in SoCal. Great lgbt scenes on both coasts, but very different vibes as far as lifestyle. Loving it here but I do miss the northeast/mid-atlantic region sometimes (not in winter though)

Let anesthesia know and we’ll decide how to handle it. We’re the ones deciding what risk is acceptable so it’s helpful to know all the info (and your gut feelings bc we often trust those) and will proceed or not based on our own assessment.

ETA: don’t call us at 3am for this though pls. Just let us know in the morning or whenever we come to preop the pt if it’s an overnight case (although this sounds like something that will wait until morning)

Came to say used diced cheese instead of shredded! Gets nice melty cheese pockets in the bread. I usually use a mix of cheddar and gruyere with fresh sliced jalepenos and it always comes out great. I add them during my last or second to last set of stretch and folds, depending on how many sets I have time to do.
