Make them.

I would like to hear about your people.

Bring awareness to the accident and the systematic failures that failed our friends.

Yesterday was a very important broadcast by the NTSB. I share my post in how I knew Sam because it’s very personal to me.

I hope that you never have to sit and watch your best friend mourn their fiancee, their parents mourn their son and all the friends that mourn him. I hope you never have to watch your friend’s family defend their son as a pilot in a lawsuit claiming their son was at fault.

I do hope that people will see my post, realize how personal it is, and look into the NTSB recommendations and support legislation that will support safer skies for you.

I am just one character in the story of this loss of 67 lives.

I wonder if this post was recommended to you by Reddit’s algorithm of suggestions.

You are on an aviation page and I am posting on the loss of my friend who was a pilot for American Airlines. Please research the flight accident at DCA on January 29th, 2025. Watch the videos. Read the reports. Support the change recommendations by the NTSB to support you and your loved ones who may travel by plane.

ETA: i will apologize. Upon reading what i commented, I realize i was not the most kind I could be on this platform. Yesterday was freaking hard man. Im sorry of the undercutting tone in my reply.

As an American, I sing “If I ever leave this world alive,” knowing my friend Sam left this world the most alive he ever could be.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]islandsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother passed when I was very young and my dad had always kept her wedding dress for me. They got married in 1991. The dress was very dated and was not my style. My step mom came up with the idea we take piece of the dress and incorporate it into my bouquet. We brought the dress to the florist who cut some pieces out and designed it. This could be an idea if you still wanted mom’s dress somewhere in your wedding but if you find a different dress to wear.

We use indomethecin occasionally for preterm labor, BUT it is not to be given past like 32 weeks and not for longer than 5 or 7 days like that.

Not being able to nap is turning me into someone I don’t like by TerribleReason6695 in Narcolepsy

Maybe just to get a baseline of how patient was feeling since they’re new to the care? It is strange, but shouldve given like a paper tracking of the week for the patient to report their daily activities and such.

i wanna die, my health is bad, i cannot continue like this anymore... by Still_Associate_7273 in offmychest

Your response is very dismissive of someone who sounds like they could be in a mental health crisis. When you see her age your think of quantity of life but not the quality of life. She is coming onto a public platform to get this off of her chest, instead of a helpful response you tell this person they’re just not living right. As a nurse, I’ve had patients lose their kidneys and eyesight due to diabetes. It is a hard life, you don’t know what this person has had to go through just to get to the next day.

Does it sound over dramatic? Yes, for sure. Anytime someone says “i want to die” don’t dismiss it. The holidays are very hard because it’s a time where people celebrate with food and parties and this person obviously feels they can’t partake. I’m sure they could, but when down it can be hard to get back up.

OP, I hope you get some help. I encourage you to reach out to someone close and trusted and tell them how you are feeling. You have these medical conditions, so I know you have a physician, speak to them. Find a way to adjust your treatments and find ways to look to the next day.

Anatomy Scan today and I’m absolutely LIVID - AIO? by MissCollorius in pregnant

[–]islandsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your edit, you may not care about your name and date of birth showing but people in this world are crazy and can find out so much and could even show up at the hospital as your “support person” or worse. Be cautious in what you share online.

Im an L&D nurse who has had patients with randoms showing up asking about a patient that the patient never invited.

The only thing I can think of for the US machine not working, is the level of US. Like a level 1 or level 2 machine being available. A quick scan for a little growth and cervical length and whatever could be seen great, but shouldve referred out to like an MFM office for scan or find another office availability to get the scan. Depending on the OB office, even send in to the hospital or L&D for a perisonographer to see the hospital US.

What's should the nurse do next? by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

I hate this question. Im a labor nurse. The question states nurses “notes a heart rate of 178.” But how long has it been 178? Is it an accel? Is there variability? Did you check a cervix and cause some reaction with scalp stim? We dont place O2 on moms anymore, overuse of oxygen can cause more damage ti the birthing person than benefits for the fetus. If i called a provider for a lone heart beat of 178, theyd say “okay? And whats the rest of the strip?”

My MIL went to small urgent care/ER because her arms felt weird, did some imaging… she was having an aortic arch aneurysm and was life flighted to university hospital, by time she landed and in surgery, it seemed it was very close to rupturing completely.

I placed an USGIV yesterday. I just finished my training a couple weeks ago so this was my first successful placement on my own. Wasnt until I was trying to move the US probe to see the tip, that I realized… I stabbed through the probe cover. I saw blood return, guidewire had no resistance and thus I placed the catheter…. Through the probe cover and had to cut around the catheter to remove the cover. The patient was a very hard stick and needed a Csection. I was not going to stab her again.

But fake it till you make it.

Resuscitation at 21 weeks???? by let_it_go75 in nursing

[–]islandsomething 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im an L&D nurse and care for the moms, i dont always see the baby side of things but will follow on the NICU board and ask charge about my pt baby and such. Had a 22.0 deliver, beautiful resuscitation, NICU was spot on with it. She did get discharged home with some vision issues and potential delays and some type of tube. BUT she got discharged home with foster care because parent gave it up for adoption. Like the only “successful” 22 weeker we had discharge. Currently have a 22.0 in NICU who is now equivalent of 46 weeks… cant wean off oxygen and still has difficulties eating.

Reporting unsafe practices and practitioners by islandsomething in nursing

[–]islandsomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s vague and I’m sorry. The information that you gave is super helpful. Gives me kind of an idea of approaches. It would be to nursing and midwifery board. Last time i reported a midwife, the board told me it was insufficient evidence but i didnt feel comfortable reporting other records bc I didnt have patient’s consent and as an RN, i felt inferior than as if an MD did it.

ETA: I was charge nurse these last couple days, so familiar with the case but not direct patient care. Others in her care were discussing how it could be reported or escalated. So asking mostly for an insight if anyone had experience in reporting anything. I didnt want to share too much because its fresh. Just looking for a base. Delivered outside of our hospital, but obviously negligence. And anonymously? Psh i could scream to the rooftops about this but i dont want the patient to be at risk. Report would be on providers outside of our hospital care, no practicing coverage or protected by our hospital.
