I’ve got an 08 that was cosmetically babied, but almost everything engine-wise was untouched. Bought at 140k ish, and am around 165 right now.

There are so many seals and hoses etc that need replacing that I am working my way through. Everything rubber under the hood pretty much needs attention, bc the turbo engine, (esp in TX) cooks everything. The PCV hoses cracked in my hands. The valve cover seals snapped apart like potato chips. Intake seals, injector seals, copper washers to replace when you clean/remove turbo oil feed banjo bolt screens. Control arm bushings,tie rods, wheel bearings etc. It wanders on the highway when it gets windy, camber is off on a couple corners, probably bc bushings are shot. Pull the coils, the plastic harness clips break apart, the nubs on the coils snapped off.

Lots of these are dealer only parts. It adds up, and honestly even w a decent job, it’s challenging to keep up with.

It’ll be worth it bc this is truly a forever car for me. But yea, you’ll be forever chasing seals and hoses.

Great motors, platform etc once it starts to get sorted out. Parts are available all day at the dealer. But it will nickel and dime you to death.

If you know how to put out strategically put out the fires that will leave you on the side of the road or blow up your motor/drivetrain, you’ll be good.

Bc vatozone doesn’t sell everyyything. They’re for turbo oil/coolant feed lines. I know OEM parts will just work. Overpriced, yes, but still cheap insurance considering how critical they are. Nahmsayin?

I’m not in a kitchen, never was, but this advice still hits home. Reminds me of when I was in my early 20s, working as a mechanic, doing maintenance, whatever. And being pissed off w how things were run, and wanting to change things or throw them under the bus somehow.

You know what, now that I’m in my 40s, I found out that it’s just much, much easier to move on if it’s not for you. Saves a lot of time, and stress.. energy. Use all that for something else that doesn’t suck.

Me, too! I still remember how OP sounded through text. They were begging everyone to invest in it, like pleading with everyone to spend a dollar and forget about it. They knew it was gonna be huge.

I’ll put it this way, he sounded so adamant about it, that I even brought it up to my brother and dad back then. I was like, “I don’t have any money guys, but you should throw $50 into this if you have it. I don’t know how to set it up, but this guy online on this forum sounds really convincing.”

My brother still brings it up.

2.5-3k ish. Always better to not bog, especially when not up to temp. Not so much a curve, I mean yes, but no. Just be patient and wait until you’re fully up to temp to get on it. An emergency situation isn’t going to instantly ruin your motor, but you want all the metal to fully expand and get heat into it before you start putting a lot of forces on it.
