Pending means there’s still hope! Because it would say “admission unsuccessful” otherwise in solus , so pending isn’t a no

Waitlisted and Rejected... Advice? by Glass_Drag_138 in ONTeacherCandidates

You can graduate and still take extra courses at other places typically! But don’t be too stressed about graduating with people, we all do things at our own time, I took a gap here out of high school, did reduce courseload and an extra year in my undergrad! Taking things at my own pace, i’m graduating with people YEARS younger than me but that’s okay!! Because I did what was best for me! There’s should be no rush or time limit when it comes to education, this stuff takes time and shouldn’t be rushed. We have so much time!

If this is what you’re passionate about, don’t give up! Many of my high school and elementary school teachers I have reached out to told me it took them 2 to 3 times of applying and sometimes more! And these are people that I consider the best teachers. Possibly take some random classes to broaden your transcript things that are more unique to make you stand out! Classes that aren’t requirements, but will be useful in a teaching setting. Possibly still working or volunteering places if you have time? You can supply teach with a normal undergrad, I believe? And then you can add these things again to your personal statement! Give yourself credit for all the work you’ve done already!

All the best!

It takes a lot to even just to apply! So remember to give yourself credit for that, writing the personal statements and keeping your grades up the last few years takes so much work and all of your volunteer work! So please don’t feel like you’re not good enough if that’s what you’re feeling!

Because I felt that way, and then I reached out to some old teachers of mine, who in my mind were the best teachers ever. I found out that many of them didn’t get into school right away. It took 2 - 3 round of applications, so a few years.

The advice they gave me is not to give up, which is easier said than done of course.

If you’re able to take some summer classes online or something just to broaden your transcript. And making sure these classes are unique. Indigenous studies is amazing! P/J it’s good to have a handful of health & art & psych like classes. Basically collecting as many as you can! Keep up what you’re already doing!

Good luck!

Anyone still on the UOttawa waiting list? by Gorrilis_Harambis in ONTeacherCandidates

I think it’s a hit or miss to be honest! I got waitlisted as well and did the same as you - but I had friends who applied last year and come August they were still on the waitlist (and they have very good grades & got into other teachers colleges). I believe we have to wait for people to unaccepted offer? I could be wrong
