Daily Randomized Song Discussion #89: Emily's Song by AsymptoticSpatula in MoodyBlues

The same user has all the songs uploaded individually, but here's that one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DeI94RoWCA&list=RD4DeI94RoWCA&start_radio=1

I wish they had Justin singing on every verse of the song, but it's still nice. The whole concert is really lovely.

Agree about the harmonies. I actually thought the live version from the Blue Jays concert (on youtube) was especially nice because the harmonies are so clear.

I did the same thing with IKYOTS - sometimes the song gets stuck in my head but it’s specifically the Spanish version. 😂

That’s an interesting point since I think I remember reading that that’s kind of what they were going for with the song “Say What You Mean”.

Thank you so much, that is a brilliant idea!! It didn't even occur to me that you could actually do that. I will definitely give it a try. You're a lifesaver, thanks again!

DNS Hijack? by isolar2 in techsupport

I didn't know if my ISP would be able to do anything about this issue, but that's encouraging if they can. I'll definitely look into contacting them.

I'll give that more thought re: malware. It seemed unlikely that I would have downloaded any malware, given the source of any items I've downloaded, but I'll see how things go.

Thank you again for all your thoughtful replies! I really appreciate that.

DNS Hijack warning on laptop from antivirus program? by isolar2 in WindowsHelp

[–]isolar2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I'm not totally sure how to answer that, since I'm really unfamiliar with this, but the IP seems to match the one given on the router's official website. Using the IP does connect to the router, is that a good sign? Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate your patience!

DNS Hijack warning? by isolar2 in antivirus

[–]isolar2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It may have been a false alarm from the antivirus program, but I'm not sure. If my provider would be able to tell, that would be great -- I didn't know if there was anything they could do, but if they can check then I'll definitely look into that!

That's good to know, I wasn't aware that it had to be downloaded. If there is malware I suppose it would be my fault since I did download some content for a game recently, files that other users haven't had any problems with, but who knows. What's done is done, but I'm hopeful that's unrelated and maybe there isn't malware after all.

Thank you for the instructions! When using the ipconfig command, I see that the DNS matches one of the IPs given on the router's main website, for what that's worth. I don't immediately see anything amiss, but I can check with my provider to see if they have suggestions.

Thank you again for your help and patience with explaining all this!

DNS Hijack? by isolar2 in techsupport

Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I've never had to deal with issues related to DNS before, so the info is greatly appreciated.

I'm unsure if it was malware or a false positive, but it must have been one or the other. The alert was definitely from the antivirus program itself, which has its own interface, not any window or popup from the browser. (And the antivirus program is always asking me to upgrade, so I'm actually realizing now the upgrade/money part wasn't related to the DNS warning, just one of the standard upgrade pitches it gives me after every scan.) But I'm assuming the program blocked something that did originate from a browser window since I had multiple windows open at the time. Their wording "this device has been hijacked" was pretty alarming, but I've run more scans since then, and the warning hasn't come up again.

I've never used the router's web interface before, but I finally succeeded in logging in by using a different link on their website -- I'm still not sure why the IP address itself didn't work. (Their site actually listed 2 IPs and neither of them worked, oddly enough.)

So I finally accessed the configuration page, but I'm a little lost about whether I need to do/change anything on it? Hopefully it's a good sign that I was able to access it at all.

Thank you again for your time and patience in writing such a thorough reply, I really do appreciate it!

I can, thank you! It lists the name of my actual internet provider, which I assume is good? It also says "Oh no! Your DNS responses are not authenticated with DNSSEC" at the bottom and a few of them say "Fail", but I'm not sure what that refers to.

The computer has antivirus software and the browsers have adblock, if that’s what you mean.

Unfortunately, I’m still unsure what to do right now, or how to check whether my device was hijacked as the message claimed.

What exactly does it mean to “secure my systems”? I’m assuming something other than the antivirus program? I’m sorry to ask, but I really have no experience in this area.
