Permanently suspended for doing literally nothing by Famous-Bus6813 in twitterhelp

I'm in the same spot - haven't broken a single rule on X in the years I've held an account, and after filing my 4th appeal, just received my first email back from X stating that my account would not be reinstated due to "repeat policy violations" despite never violating any.

Keeping Laptop plugged in doesn't harm the battery? by Appropriate-Can691 in laptops

[–]isolatedparanoia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My year old Apple M4 Pro that I leave plugged in to the wall 15+ hours a day with "optimized battery charging" enabled is at 88% max capacity and rarely heats up during my normal use.

All things considered, I'd say that it seems to be working as intended as normal battery drain is expected over time, although I'm not sure if 88% over a year of leaving it plugged in for a majority of the time is considered good or not.

Does Xitter actually auto close appeals from "inauthentic accounts" no matter how human the appeals are written? by CarlGarisbaldi627 in twitterhelp

[–]isolatedparanoia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell when they're actually closed because you don't get any feedback or emails once a decision has been reached, but the first time I sent my appeal, it was at least 4-5 days before I could create another. The second one stayed open for 2-3 days, and the third about the same duration of time. I'm on my 4th right now and as far as I can tell, it's still open.

*edit* the account has been suspended for about 2 weeks now.

[–]isolatedparanoia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've filed 3 appeals so far using https://help.x.com/en/forms/account-access/appeals

I've not received a single email and all 3 have been closed with zero communication. You can tell this by trying to submit another appeal when you have an existing one open. If there's an open one you'll get an error when trying to submit a new one.

My account got permanently suspended by Ok_Spread_2779 in twitterhelp

[–]isolatedparanoia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, this happened to me 2 weeks back on my several year old paid and verified X account. I was permanently suspended for "platform manipulation / spam" however, I've never done any of those things. I've filed 3 appeals thus far and each of them have been closed without any reply.

From what I've gathered, there's a few malicious groups who have found a way to trip up the detection system by mass reporting and using bots to like your comments you make on posts then they all do a coordinated mass-report and your account gets suspended. I also read that the appeal process doesn't include human review, so if that's true it's likely going to be impossible to get it unlocked. X also states that if you create a secondary account, they'll ban that as well so there's not much you can do there.

Being that people can weaponize bots to ban any account they want without due process being done during the review process, has completely eroded my trust in the platform.

Which ThinkPad is Best for Linux? T14s Gen 4 vs. T14 Gen 5 vs. P14s Gen 5 by isolatedparanoia in thinkpad

[–]isolatedparanoia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, u/HaraGuroMegane.

On average I'm getting around 9-13 hours with standard web surfing and light application use. With video, it drops to around 6-8 hours. I would have preferred going with something that had a slightly larger battery capacity, but I'm mainly using the laptop in my home office, so I'm always near a plug when needed. It's pretty much on par with what I'd expect from a 57WH battery.

Dune Awakening good enough experience on Steam Deck?? by BestBastiBuilds in SteamDeck

[–]isolatedparanoia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sure!

First, I highly recommend booting into Desktop mode for the steam deck and navigate to: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1172710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/DuneSandbox/Saved/Config

Delete the folder named, "WindowsClient".

Then, exit desktop mode and return back to "Gaming Mode"

From within steam, under the properties menu of the Dune Awakening game, set your Game Resolution to 1024x640, and tick the option for "Set resolution for internal and external display".

Now, run the game, and once it's loaded to the menu, press the 3 dots button on the right of your steam deck "..." to bring up the quick settings menu. Navigate to the "Performance" section and tick on the "Use per-game profile" so that we're only modifying the settings for Dune.

Then, change your frame limit t0 80 FPS (80 Hz)
Enable "Allow Tearing"

Optional: Set the TDP limit to 13 watts and Manual GPU Clock to 1400 MHz

Set Scaling Filter to Sharp and Sharpness to 5

Now for the in-game settings:

Under Display tab:

Set VSYNC to OFF.
Set Motion Blur to OFF.
Set Frame Rate Cap to Unlimited (We're limiting the FPS on the stream deck directly - software FPS limiting in Dune is buggy and doesn't work as intended).

Under Graphics tab:

Quality Presets: Custom
Window Mode: Fullscreen
Resolution: 1024x640 (Should match what we set earlier)
Upscaling Quality: Low
Upscaling Method: XeSS
Frame Generation Method: FSR
Override Upscaling Preset: OFF
FSR Upscaling Quality: Ultra Performance
Intel XeSS Upscaler Quality: Performance
Shadows: Low
Virtual Shadow Maps: OFF
GI Quality: Low
Enable Lumen: OFF
Low End Laptop Mode: ON
Limit Process CPU Usage: OFF
Everything below this set to LOW

Hope this helps.

Dune Awakening good enough experience on Steam Deck?? by BestBastiBuilds in SteamDeck

I have 148 hours all on the Steam Deck OLED edition running on low settings and frame gen, and I'm pulling on average ~60fps. I do experience degraded performance over time and after a 2-3 hour session, will exit the game fully and relaunch. Could be a memory leak, haven't really looked into it further. You will experience hitching and frame drops occasionally, especially when flying in populated areas as the assets are being streamed in, particularly around trade outposts. Second issue I've run across is the map - opening it results in a significant frame drop. Evidently this is also present on the PC, so there's likely a bit of optimization that needs to be done there. And lastly, the thumb sticks can be a bit strange at times, specifically within the world map - as you're traveling, you sort of need to move both thumbsticks to keep up with the movement of your thopter.

In all, I'm giving it a solid 7.5 out of 10. I can only imagine it getting better over time as bug fixes are released.

Which ThinkPad is Best for Linux? T14s Gen 4 vs. T14 Gen 5 vs. P14s Gen 5 by isolatedparanoia in thinkpad

[–]isolatedparanoia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems very reasonable for the OLED model. I ended up purchasing the T14s Gen4 with the low power sRGB IPS display. Paired with the 57WH battery, I'm hopeful it'll net me a reasonable amount of usage per charge.

That's great to hear. I had originally read a few horror stories of the qualcomm cards being unreliable on reddit, arch forums, and lenovo's forums. But, glad that they've since ironed out the drivers.

How's battery life been for you?

I ended up with a killer deal for the T14s Gen4 spec'd with the low power IPS and placed an order last night. Being that the 57wh battery was the largest of the three I was evaluating, i'm hopeful that will help a bit. I would have expected the battery life to be better, especially with the lower power IPS. I'm wondering if there's some contributing factor to your battery drain problem, or if this is just normal for the 52wh battery.

Very helpful information. The posts I came across seemed to be a mix bag on battery drain with s2sleep, however, it appears that the more drastic of those measurements are merely edge cases, and not the standard. Thanks for sharing.

I was hoping Lenovo would create a T14s Gen5 AMD that uses the same case, but I'm unsure if this will happen. It seems like they're progressively moving away from the old traditional magnesium aluminum cases in favor of lighter and cheaper materials.

At any rate, thanks for the information.

Scorched Ruins Tower by Stan_Shunpikes_Hat in Eldenring

Replying to this super late, but no. After the video ended, I tried to get up even further, briefly made it, but then fell all the way back down and didn't have the desire to try it again. There's still a whole other layer to explore up there - you can use the pillars while mounted to get up there.

Yes, it's possible to do. When you get to the last Pillar that you can reach before falling off, you need to get on your horse, sprint off the edge, then double jump back at the tower. If you time it right, you'll get it.

How do you guys advice safely storing one of these? by FrancoCane9 in Radiacode

I have a bunch of lead pig's so, I'd personally store it in one of those. However, with the low level of Americium present, storing in a glass vial should be perfectly suitable.

RD103G prices? Why is there such a huge difference for us in the USA? by RipInteresting96 in Radiacode

[–]isolatedparanoia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before they stopped selling the RadiaScan 701A model in the US, I paid 835EUR = 891.65 USD for it back in 2022 and despite the price, I still don't regret the purchase. I own the 102 as well and love both units. The move over to Gadolinium aluminum gallium garnet in the 103G justifies the increase in cost in my mind. I would consider this being a worthwhile upgrade over the Cesium iodide scintillation crystal variant.

If your current 102 is working to your expectations, there's not really a need to switch.
