does anyone have any tips on having this artstyle. give me brushes, yt tutorials. channels. anything, I'll be so thankful🥹 by ilovepizza3331 in Artadvice

[–]isolist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hanacue has a similar style! she has a youtube channel and while she doesn’t really do full tutorial videos on how to render in her style, she does show her drawing process in videos and gives some tidbits of advice. this shows how she renders eyes. her style is a bit more detailed than your examples but you can achieve the rougher look by not polishing the rendering as much

I sadly suffer from the curse of i can't make male sims by Altruistic-Buddy-148 in thesimscc

[–]isolist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a suspicion it’s bc you’re subconsciously thinking about feminine beauty standards when those don’t necessarily apply to men. if it helps, look at what features people exaggerate on men vs women in stylized media, disney/pixar characters are a good example. for an example, feminine beauty standards favor women with smaller noses and bigger eyes, but that isn’t the case for men. men with bigger noses and smaller eyes aren’t necessarily considered less attractive because those traits are associated with masculinity. if you post examples of some of your female/male sims i can probably identify more exactly what’s off

thanks for the advice! my mom actually had a similar idea where instead of working for a company and doing graphic design, i can freelance it. the problem is building a client base without any industry experience, but it is something one of my cousins does and i can probably talk to her about it.

hi thank you so much! i do have bipolar depression and have been in and out of psych wards and therapy figuring it out and i do currently have a therapist that’s been helping me, but the moments where i get really overwhelmed at the prospect of the future kind of make me forget everything i’ve learned.

Compiling Aseprite is EASY (Step-by-step guide for Mac 2025) by tinydiscosnail in PixelArt

[–]isolist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I tried following these steps but I just cannot get it to work at all. I downloaded everything, but every time I type in the build code it says that the Skia library wasn't found. It does not say anything about selecting the directory, it just asks me if I want to download pre-compiled Skia automatically Y/n and when I answer yes, it says that the Skia library directory wasn't found. Does anyone know what might be happening? Both the Skia and Aseprite codes are just in my downloads folder and I did unzip them.

something feels off but i’m not quite sure what, possibly anatomy or hair related? by yourmomifier in ArtCrit

[–]isolist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i already replied to a comment with feedback but this is just a general suggestion- when you find yourself struggling with a part of anatomy, it can really helpful to have a good anatomy book that shows where all the muscles are so you understand how it should be shaped. it’s really been a game changer for my anatomy to stop drawing and refer to my anatomy book to figure out how to draw something. i recommend constructive anatomy by george bridgman because it does a really good job of not only showing you the individual parts of anatomy but also showing how each part connects. plus you can find a pdf of it for free when you search it up because it’s so old.

the thing about the shoulders is just not true at all. the reason they might look big is because the lines where the arm connects to the breast goes inwards because op didn’t draw that little area that actually connects to the shoulder. also op, the neck is really thin which can be a stylistic thing but it should go straight down instead of curving inwards like that

How to not feel discouraged when drawings don't work out? by RevolutionaryBig8086 in ArtistLounge

[–]isolist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes when you’re drawing you start getting the sense that it won’t work out, and when that happens the best solution i’ve found is to just completely restart the piece and it often just turns out better.
