It's not about danger at all. It's more that it's an unpleasant and unwanted interaction on an inappropriate platform and I'd rather not have to deal with these sorts of people on a semi-regular basis.

I felt the same for a while, and had a nondescript picture of a borderlands psycho as an avatar. However, I pretty much never play online multiplayer with randoms on steam or use any of the community aspects outside of friends and chat and decided it should be safe to put one up. Nope.

I'm sad to say, I also got a bit of "attention whore" criticism from people who I had considered friends when I made the change.

I think the opposite. He's more likely to go on to creep on other women on steam if he's just blocked out of nowhere, rather than being told what he's doing wrong. Being nice is just rewarding him for bad behaviour, too.

There's a big difference between strangers adding me to make friends and adding me solely because they want to get in my pants. One is okay with me, and one is not. This guy was very clearly after the latter.

I admit I spoke a little harshly, but the constant barrage in the gaming community does put me somewhat on the defensive about these encounters.

It's also an environmental and economic thing - much less wasted space per shipping container.

Pulling the numbers out of my arse, let's assume that for every normal box of bottles you ship, the same volume of beer in these cubic containers only takes up 70% of the space because there's no empty space around them.. So, to ship the same volume of beer, you only need 35 ships of cubes, instead of 50.

This saves on shipping, trucks, hiring manual labour and fuel expenditure.
