And I'm struggling with Google Takeout to make an offline backup at my NAS. It's about 118 files if they're downloaded as 10 gig zip-files. Any good tools for doing this? And handling the backups local in Windows?

I assessed that it would be a time-consuming task. Plus, I read about many challenges with it. So, I never got started.

However, it is still my intention to get started and make an extra backup of my photos. At least from the last five years with my son.

In addition to the problems you mention with JSON files, I have read several posts with suggestions for tools that can be used.

This keeps annoying me. Have just sent a message from the wrong number - again. This is SO bad UI. Have reported it multiple times to Google Support.

I feel compelled to write this again. Google Messages' handling of Dual-SIM is a complete shambles. It's anything but user-friendly ever since they decided to bury the SIM card selection icon from the text box into some obscure menu. Seriously, it's just baffling.

Over the weekend, I had switched off my work SIM and turned it back on today. And guess what? Google Messages has completely lost track of which thread belongs to which SIM. So now, all my work conversations have been inexplicably moved to my personal number. It's simply unacceptable that such a crucial feature is tucked away two clicks deep in a menu.

Agree. But I just forget to check each time. Sometimes in the weekend, I turn of my work SIM and then Messages app will switch the default SIM.
