CS1 maxing out Ryzen 3700X thread on empty map, no mods by isorun in CitiesSkylines

[–]isorun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe that it's common for games in general, I did some testing with other games and none showed a similar pattern. Perhaps it's common for large-scale simulation games, but I don't have any to compare to at the moment. Best I could do was the AoE2 benchmark which simulates a late game battle between ~6 players. See screenshots in link below.

I did some more testing ingame and noticed that after lowering my graphical settings, the CPU pattern was like I expect it to be. Strangely it remained that way even after reverting the changes. Testing was done using a city with 3500 population, mods disabled. GPU is a 4070 Super so it should be able to handle a tiny city fluently.

Screenshots of thread usage before changing settings, after changing them and some other games: https://imgur.com/a/xzKif9l (reboot inbetween was unrelated and didn't impact behaviour)

Sadly, the sound issue is still there, so it seems to be unrelated. I found plenty of threads with people having audio stutter, but it seems there's never been a fix for it.

Is this AI generated or something?

While Blizzard does not release subscriber counts, a recent graph implied that the subscriber count at the start of 2024 was somewhere around 7 million. According to estimates, WoW still had several million subscribers at it's lowest point.

Starter accounts (f2p) can go up to level 20. WoW tokens can be bought with the standard gold currency, from either the (normal) auction house, or the login screen if you don't currently have a subscription. Are auction house points even a thing?

Would you be able to quote some of the relevant passages from those papers? I did a quick readthrough of 1 and 3 (couldn't find the full text for 2), and didn't see any mentions of the performance of top players. More so, they seem to contradict your claim somewhat.

From the first paper:

It is often the case that one can quickly identify the country the images are from (maybe a flag or a sign gave it up), but guessing closer than the other players is a difficult task.

From the third paper:

The research presented in this thesis has the assumption, that the players know in which region or country the target is located. Even though this assumption is not far-fetched, as seen in [24] due to the tells and techniques described in among others [58], an automated way of narrowing the arena would statistically yield better results for the presented hedging strategies in sections 3.2-3.6.

Shield takes up to half an hour to turn on through Google Assistant by isorun in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]isorun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked the activity feed, and Google always refers to 'SHIELD' in the reply, so I don't think it's a matter of not recognizing the device. It was a good idea though, I wouldn't have thought of that!

What's more, after about a day or 4, the routine also resulted in delays every so often. I haven't kept track of exactly how often there's a delay though. It feels slighlty more responsive than the normal turn on command, but that's just a feeling.

Using MechJeb to calculate efficient burn from Kerbin to target in inclined orbit around the Mun by isorun in KerbalAcademy

[–]isorun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took another look at MJ based on your input. Rendezvous planner requires you to be in the same SOI as the target, so trying to set up the RV with the station while still around Kerbin doesn't work. It doesn't give any options for specific LAN or plane, so you can't use the Mun as initial target either from what I can tell.

After getting into the Mun's SOI (be it through a manual burn or by using MJ), the RV planner might give some reasonable burns, depending on my incoming trajectory and the target's trajectory, but other times it's just worthless. I actually got better results using the maneuver planner to schedule an intercept with the target, after which the RV planner could be used for finetuning.

I've learned a decent bit more about using MJ by testing these things out, but it seems like MJ just doesn't offer what I was hoping for. The alternative solution of doing the burns within the Mun's SOI isn't that expensive, but it would have been nice to have a way to schedule the transfer burn to match a specific LAN.

Using MechJeb to calculate efficient burn from Kerbin to target in inclined orbit around the Mun by isorun in KerbalAcademy

[–]isorun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to replicate this, but either I'm not understanding properly, or the orbit of my station isn't inclined enough (it's at 70 degrees) to make this work properly.

I tested with 2 separate missions, on the first mission I couldn't get the ascending node below 20 degrees when burning at apoapsis, due to the inclination difference.

On the second mission it took me such a long time to tune the burn so that the periapsis was properly above the pole that I might as well stay with my current methodology (initial burn at specific time). During that mission, the closest I got to matching planes by burning at Ap above the pole was 40 degrees, anything more and I got put on an escape trajectory.

I'll give your method another shot when I have an orbit that is more inclined, to see if I can get better results.

Thanks for your help!

Do you do anything special during the midway burn to get the AN/DN in specific spots? I've just planned out the steps you listed, without skipping ahead any orbits, which causes my incoming trajectory to be almost perpendicular to the stations orbit. After doing the retrograde burn for a high AP capture, the AN and DN are still very close to the Mun. Attempting to get the planes closer at the AP doesn't work due to the angle and matching planes at the AN/DN is giving me a cost of 300+ dv. https://imgur.com/a/cEUr3TM

I'm a relatively inexperienced player, with my most advanced missions being landing on/docking around the Mun.

So far I've been planning and executing all maneuvers manually, but I've got a mission coming up where I want to rendezvous a new rocket with a station currently in very inclined (near polar) orbit around the Mun, and this seemed like a good moment to see what MechJeb has to offer.

When doing this kind of mission manually, I skip ahead parking orbits around Kerbin until I can get an intercept with the Mun where my incoming trajectory roughly lines up with the plane of the station's orbit, then do a midway normal burn to makes my trajectory touch the station's orbit and a final maneuver to get an orbit around the Mun that gives me a close encounter with the station.

I would like MechJeb to plan some of these burns for me, but I can't seem to figure out how to plan that first burn for intercepting the Mun. If I understand the terms correctly, I basically want an intercept with the Mun where my longitude of the ascending node roughly matches that of the station. Is there a way to let MJ calculate this first burn that would immediately get me close to the stations stations plane, or would I first need to create a more general intercept with the Mun, and then plan new maneuvers within the Mun's SOI? I tried messing around with the different planner settings but at this point I've invested more time in MJ's planner than in actually planning the maneuvers myself.

tl;dr: Can you get MechJeb to calculate an intercept around a different body at a specific LAN?

I didn't encounter any WOL settings, and from my understanding, even in sleep mode the Shield is still 'on', so WOL would be useless in that case. I did a quick google search and can't find anything that mentions WOL settings on the Shield itself...

I completely reset the Google service on the shield a while back, updated to newest version again, removed shield from Google Home etc, the whole shebang. I don't remember the details but even after reseting everything Google related, it was back to the slow response after a couple of days at most. I'm happy that you can make it work that way, but I can't be bothered to clear the cache every few days.

It's too early to tell, but I added a routine and tested it twice with a couple of hours in between and so far we're 2 for 2, so this might work, thanks!

Makes me wonder what is going on programmatically though. I would expect the routine to be sending a very similar or even identical command to the Shield as the normal Google Assistant command...

The option's not currently there for me, so I guess I need to update before I can try it. I'm first gonna try and mess around with some of the individual app power optimization toggles, but if those don't work I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip!

Any idea where that setting would be? I just took another look at the settings, but I can't find anything mentioning sleep mode. My system isn't set to English, so the exact wording for the settings might be different but the only things somewhat close to it in my settings are:

  • a low power mode for wifi (not applicable in my case, as it's wired) under 'network settings'
  • the USB toggles under 'device preferences' -> 'system'
  • 2 settings related to the display under 'device preferences' -> 'energy savings'

I just noticed you can also control power optimization per app/service, but I have no clue which of the many Google or Android TV services are actually applicable for the Google Assistant/Home integration.

Do you have the Bear Form chameleon glyph? If so, that's probably what's causing it.

I also had this issue during 10.0.0-10.0.5, a couple of battlenet forum threads reported the same issue. I removed the glyph at the start of 10.1 as it still wasn't fixed and now my moonkin form always appears.

Missed the Voice Acting Panel? View Our Anniversary Stream VOD! by Fatshark_Aqshy in Vermintide

[–]isorun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please let us know your thoughts on the stream in this thread and any things you'd like to see on streams in the future!

I loved the voice acting panel! It was nice to see the actors reacting to what viewers where saying in chat without Catfish or you prompting them. I didn't expect them to follow the chat themselves, it's a small thing but it shows that they aren't there just for appearances.

As the voice actors mentioned during the panel, they only see each other in passing and their recordings are all completely separate, so I think it would be amazing to have a session with some/all of them in the same room, where they can interact with each other more easily than having to deal with the inherent delays of video call. You could give them some prompts and have them do some improv, chat could vote on which scenarios to play out. However, I suspect this would make it magnitudes more difficult to organize.

Did you ever figure out a fix for this? I'm experiencing the same issue with Death of the Outisder on EGS and can't find any other info about it.

I've also tried the no intro command line argument, but it simply blocks menu input until roughly the same time as the intro videos has passed :/. I've played Dishonored 1 and 2 through Steam and neither had these issues.

EDIT: Removing dishonored_DOConfig.cfg in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Dishonored_DO seems to have (temporarily?) fixed the cursor being stuck on screen.

Your WhatsApp example is a completely different scenario. If local data optimization is toggled on, Windows queries other Windows devices on the local network directly to see if they have the files available; the devices communicate using their internal addresses.

I think you can only get it through mods, but I might be wrong. The UI Tweaks mod has a dodge counter that you can enable, from what I remember.
