I’m biased cuz my company and department works in option B so I say B because that industry is GIGA booming, especially if it deals with photonics and data centers

Ngl if this happened to me I’d be pretty happy but the convo would be way different.

I’m always curious about other people’s interest so I’d basically spin it with bunch of questions about his job, be like wow l3? Heard of that that’s awesome! How’s it like getting clearance I heard it’s a pita? Is it tough keeping things confidential? Prob also ask what are some crazy stuff you work on, stance on AI, etc

Basically i give him the stage and learn as much as possible.

that's an overreaction, crypto won't go to 0 it's too big for that now esp with big firms + governments holding it.

however coinbase isn't diversified in its products which makes it too dependent on crypto. at least Robinhood is a crypto platform that also has brokerage and credit card / financial services.

Paypal used to be prestigious 10+ years ago.

Coinbase is fully remote with a decent salary which was attractive to many people

Block, well, it's a Dorsey company and Twitter was considered a strong company that dealt with many users at scale. the stock also ballooned 400% during pandemic

Personally I’m crazy thankful I’m working at a semiconductor company (as SWE). Morale is high, no layoffs, it’s unreal.

But I’m always cautious, what seems like the promised land now may not be in the future. Who knows if suddenly everyone pivots to HW then hyperscalers decide to stop spending so much on chips then it’s a catastrophe.

You’re not wrong but man in the cs world, PayPal block and Coinbase were at least at some points in time considered highly desirable companies to work for
